Reviews of Every Single Day

I've only owned ESD for 5 days and yet I feel as though we are old friends. My stereo knows this cd well and my lips can follow every word already. It's one of those cds that you know will be on favorite lists for years to come, and one of those that will draw in new fans by the hordes. Lucy has outdone herself a thousand times over. Here is a rundown of each of the songs in my words...how i interpret them

Written on the Back of his Hand: a song that opens this album so well, it's a new side of Lucy...not one quite as painful and sarcastic as previous. A new sound, more rock-less country/folk

Crazy Dreams: You know I hate covers-yet every time Lucy does one...i love them. This is no exception- a song written by Paul Brady, Lucy evokes her spirit throughout this song. Yet another new sound, with her backing band giving a new dimension to her voice

Every Single Day: Is there no end to the kinds of music that Lucy can get away with singing?? This has yet another new sound- deep, dark and sad though on a different level than the rest of her songs usually are...another dimension has been

Don't Mind Me: One of the uplifting, fun songs on this album. Sung through the eyes of an obsessive fan, Lucy's way with words will make many smile throughout this song

Broken Things: A beautiful rendition of Julie Miller's song...breathtaking...One of my favorite songs on this album. So much hope and love, i could picture this hurt person who has been through so much, finally finding someone who truely loves her...

Guilty as Sin: The one truly angry song on the cd. For women who always fall for the wrong men (read-married men)...the hurt and used feelings that comes from getting into relationships with these men

Nowhere: My absolute fav song on this cd. Beautiful. A light in the dark for those who are dealing with depression. Lucy showing that those people are not alone...that others go through hard times as well. Her lyrics are moving and the music that backs her is breathtaking

No More Excuses: A little told-you-so of a song. A story of a man who has hurt and betrayed many finally getting his

Song for Molly: A beautiful song that will move anyone who has watched a loved one get older and slip away

You're Still Standing There: Lucy does amazing things with Steve Earle songs and this is one of them. One of those songs that you find yourself singing at the top of your lungs bouncing around while driving down the road (or maybe thats just me :))

The Angels Rejoiced Last Night: By Ira Louvin, this song moved me and I found myself enjoying what i thought would be my least fav song. Lucy sings this beautifully and ends this album on a sweet note

My one suggestion for this album is to listen to it straight through in order-it tells a story of sorts- the pain is made up for by happiness -hurt replaced by love- it's all best heard in the order that its found in :)
