That Champlain, lai, lai…..

After a difficult winter on Saint Croix Island

Decided to settle in Port Royal

A Port of some fame.

That started the ball( le bal…a formal dance)

With the songs of long ago

And the Order of Good Cheer

Part 2

It’s in 1632, lai lai….

That Sir Razilly, lai, lai...

Foolishly decided to add to

The history of our land

By founding Acadie.

Yes! It is in Port Royal.

That started the ball( le bal)

With the songs of long ago

And the Order of Good Cheer

Part 3

It’s in 1755, lai,lai…

That Sir the Great Lawrence

In various big boats

Organized a trip

Thus sending our heroes

To lands unknown.

 Yes! It is in Port Royal.

That started the ball( le bal)

With the songs of long ago

And the Order of Good Cheer

Part 4

It’s in 1980, lai, lai…

That we gathered (met), lai,lai…

To continue this dance ( le bal)

With our festivals,

That border on the folie

Of Sir de Razilly

 Yes! It is in Port Royal.

That started the ball( le bal)

With the songs of long ago

And the Order of Good Cheer

 Part 5 

And it’s in the year 2000, lai,lai….

That we will  appreciate

If our heroes of years ago,

And the order of Good Cheer

Were more than feelings, sentiments, gatherings…

 Yes! It will be in Port Royal

That will start again the dance and partying

With songs of today

As an expression of our hospitality and good nature

 But it’s in Port Royal

That the dance began

With the songs of long ago

And the Order of Good Cheer( bis)
