Batch Attribute Extractor
How To Use:
- Type the name of the block from which you want to
extract the attributes. You can use * and ? as wild card in block name where *
represents any number of any character and ? represents exactly one character
(any).
- Select whether to search in Paper Space or Model Space
or both. Be specific to reduce executing time.
- Select the Source Folder where the drawings are
located.
- Now click 'START'. You will be prompted for password
if you are using full version.
- If you are using the full version you can repeat the
above process as many times as you want. But in demo version, the program will
be closed automatically just after one run and you need to start again.
- A tab delimited text file will be created in the source folder named
'Report.txt'.
Important Features:
- The demo version will not process more than five files
at a time even though the source folder contains more files. Full version
doesn't have any such restriction.
- AutoCAD will run in the background. In the end AutoCAD
may prompt you to save 'Drawing1.dwg'. Select no in this case. Don't be
worried if you have selected yes.
- The software has been developed in Windows 2000 for
AutoCAD 2002. It also runs in Windows Millennium with AutoCAD 2002. Other
combinations of operating system & AutoCAD version may be tested. It
should run in Windows 98 or with AutoCAD 2000 too.
- AutoCAD must be properly installed in your computer to
run this software.
- The drawings must be consistent with regard to the
target block from which the attributes to be extracted. The block must
contains the same attributes in the same order in all the files. The software
retrieves the attribute information from the first file and assume that these
are same in all the files. Otherwise runtime error may result or result may be
erroneous. However, the name of the block may be slightly different in
different files, for example, the name may be any of Title1, Title2, Title3 in
differnt files. In this case you will use 'Title?' as block name. In any case,
the block must contains the same attributes in the same order in all the files
although block names may vary.
- You can open the tab delimited 'Report.txt' file in
Microsoft Excel to see it in tabular form.
- If the source folder already contains a Report.txt file, it will be
overwritten without any prompt. Be cautious about this.
