A LITTLE ABOUT CAPE BRETON ISLAND

Cape Breton Island is located at the Northeastern tip of Nova Scotia on the Atlantic Ocean,we are connected to Mainland Nova Scotia by a causeway, which is called the Canso Causeway. Before passing over the causeway on the swing bridge you will see "WELCOME TO CAPE BRETON" sign painted on the bridge itself. There is a small lock for ships to pass through, the ships go up the Strait of Canso to pick up gypsum which is loaded there for other destinations, and a gravel processing place there as well. There are many beautiful sites to behold on our Island and it is famous world wide for its hospitality and its people.According to a poll taken by Time Magazine we have been recognized for being one of the most scenic places in the world in which we stand in second place. So that alone in itself should tell you something. We take pride in our people, our cultures and the hospitality that we put forth to visitors that frequent our Island every summer from all over the world. We treat all with respect, and show them a good time from down home kitchen party which are called CEILIDH (PRONOUNCED KAY-LEE) to lobster boils on the beach or anything else that your heart may desire while you are staying with us. We have Micmac Indians that also reside here and their reserves are beautiful with beautiful campgrounds, and trading posts of the fine wares that they make.We have French Acadians here in the communities of Arichat and Cheticamp to name a few.The Acadian French have maintained their French language in their communities, and have many beautiful beaches and scenic routes throughout their towns and villages.I am going to post some pictures on my site and some links to other pages ..all pictures on this site are copyrite and all rights are reserved. They are not only copyrite by myself but also by Bruce Doucet who has given me permission to use them here.A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to Bruce Doucet. His webpages are definitly worth checking out,he has many beautiful pictures there.I hope you follow all the links that I provide,as they are all very well done some professional and others amateur like myself.I think it will be well worth your time to get a broader look at our beautiful paradise on the Atlantic Ocean.ENJOY
