EMMA AMELIA SMITH
Daughter of Bernard and Henrietta Maria Smith
Born: 1844, Perth, Western Australia (Perth 414/44)
Married: Did not marry
Aunt Emma had an accident with a pencil in her mouth as a child
and as a consequence was deaf and dumb. This did not stop her
from being an excellent carpenter, needleworker and photographer
with her own dark room for developing her photos. She also built a
little bird-cage out of her bedroom window and kept canaries in
it.
The Catholic Record of 7.12.1929 recorded:-
