Temple of Heaven

This masterpiece of Ming architecture is one of the most photographed buildings in the world for its elegant beauty and symmetry. Built between 1406 and the 1420, it was used by the emperor for ceremonies honoring the god of harvests. Today, the Temple of Heaven is surrounded by a 660-arce park, with music playing softly throughout the day.

Some buildings characteristics of Temple of Heaven

	the main buildings, with its three cone-shaped roofs, has become the symbol of Beijing. It was entirely fitted together - not a single nail or peg  was used in its construction.
	The temple's silhouette was the official symbol for Beijing's unsuccessful bid for the 2000 Olympics Games
	Visit in the early morning to see people practicing Tai Ji and the ancient healing art of Qigong; or you can watch couples waltzing to classical music next to a beautifully landscaped Rose Garden, and you are welcomed to join them.
