Sharon graduated from North Texas University with a degree in Psychology.
She spent 28 years with the Social Services Administration before taking
early retirement in order to care for her parents. Sharon contributed to
APFPY from its first days as well as participating in many chats on IRC.
Even when no longer a regular poster, she always continued to take a lively
interest in all the people and events in our Village.
Sharon was one of those "Internet phenomena"--a person I never had the
privilege of meeting face-to-face yet one I considered a dear friend. I
liked Sharon immediately from reading her posts in APFPY--her wit and
intelligence shone through like beacons. It was when we began emailing that
I discovered how our lives mirrored each other's in many ways. We were both
an "only child" who loved dogs and didn't particularly care for children. We
both had an intense love for our family and cared for parents and/or
grandparents until their deaths. We both married for the first time later in
our lives to exceptional men from the UK whom we'd first met in APFPY.
Where I have more than a touch of the curmudgeon in me, Sharon was the
essence of thoughtfulness. She was a lady who always concerned herself with
the well-being of others, regardless what her own problems were or how much
pain she was in. Whenever I had my own problems, she was first in line with
comfort and support. She was always interested in my life and the things
that Denis and I were up to. I will always regret never having had the
chance to walk up to her and give her a hug.
Sharon--it is entirely due to you that I know there are rare and beautiful
roses in Texas, Skye.
