INTO THE FLAMES

Each one of us who enter this world will at one point or another in our lives have choices to make, burdens to bear and pain and suffering to endure.  These moments are the fabric of our lives and it is in these moments that the metal that is us is thrust into the flames of life. As with making of steel the iron must be heated and worked to make it stronger and stronger. So it is with our lives, we move from moment to moment working and being formed by the days of our lives.

Some like the crudest ore cannot withstand the flames and are consumed; some become brittle and crack but endure and become the finest of steel. Like steel beams hold a building together, these people who have been molded by life hold the world together. The one common factor among all is that the person who goes into the flames is not the same one who comes out.

This place is a celebration of life, the affirmation of life, the joy of life and the proof that all things can and will endure. Cheryl offered me the opportunity to be a part of her Web Page and allowed me to put what I wanted in it, this is a result of that freedom.

I would like this to be a place where everyone can come and see that there is always hope, always opportunity as long as you believe there is.  I want to make this a place of sharing, a place to revive our lagging spirits, a refreshing stop on life’s path.

1995 was the beginning of a 3 year slump for me and my family, suffice to say that very few problems passed my door without stopping in for a visit, but after all was said and done I found that the four people involved where stronger, happier and better people.

Why? I wish I could tell you, but I honestly don’t know other than we went into the flames and we endured. There will be a few pictures, if all goes right, that show my son Sean who was in a coma from June 13, 1996 until November 10, 1996. We were told in August that he would most likely be in a vegetative state the rest of his life and to look for a nursing home for him.  We didn’t and he isn’t and we are all the better for it.
