More Fleetwood Bac Reviews

March 16th 2002, The Halfmoon, Putney

This was my second visit to see Fleetwood Bac, and the second time I've been to see them at the Half Moon in Putney.  I think they were BETTER than they were last October and certainly the addition of an extremely authentic looking 'Christine' has added to the group a better vocal harmony mix, plus it provides so much scope to do loads of Chris McVie songs (I'm waiting for Songbird and Brown Eyes).  I am still wondering if that really is the real John McVie, because I can't tell the difference - take your copies of 'Rumours' along and you'll see what I mean!

As well as the personnel change the set list seemed to have been radically re-jigged from last autumn, but I was glad to hear that the acoustic version of 'Big Love' from The Dance album was still there.  If anything showcases just what a talented guitarist the Bac's 'Lindsey' is, then it is this track.  I've seen him do this twice and each time I've just been mesmerised by it - it looks hellishly difficult to play, but it sounds heavenly!

There was a particularly excellent version of 'Tusk' as one of the encore songs with a rib-cage rattling drum solo from 'Mick Fleetwood.'

The Bac's 'Stevie' continues to enchant the audience with a voice that is as close to Stevie Nicks's as it is possible to get without actually being the woman herself.  She is also spot on with her portrayal of Stevie on stage (woe betide you getting in the way of those platform boots!).  Particular stand out songs were the opener 'Gold Dust Woman' and absolutely kick-ass versions of 'Rhiannon'  and 'Sisters of the Moon'.

Emerging from the crowd to great applause part way through the show was former Fleetwood Mac bass player Bob Brunning.  Bob and the Bac did a wonderful version of 'Need Your Love So Bad' which went down a storm.   He went on to praise Fleetwood Bac for keeping it all going.

The best sight of the night though was the 'Sold Out' sign on the door....speaks for itself for how good this band is.

WOW!!!!! I've had a fabulous night out seeing Fleetwood Bac at the Half Moon in Putney - they were superb! In fact they were every adjective in the dictionary that describes greatness.

Each member of the group was wonderful in their own way - superb singing and musicianship all round - could not fault one single thing.

Excellent selection of tracks including E of 17, Gypsy, Sara, Rhiannon, HAEWAFY and 'Sisters of the Moon' THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUTTING THIS IN !!!! - but there are far too many things to rave over. Including Stevie's boots - I want a pair!!!!!!!

However, you have to see them to believe just how real they sound. Close your eyes and you would not know the difference. Excellent, wonderful, magnificent - too much to mention...
