FLEETWOOD BAC - LIVE
FROM A TENT IN KENT!
Fresh from wow-ing a 3000 strong appreciative crowd
at the Donnington Park Motorbike Grand Prix yesterday (July 13th), Fleetwood
Bac donned their charity hats and played a short set to a more modest-sized
crowd, in aid of the Foal Farm Animal Rescue Centre, Biggin Hill, Kent.
The event was packed out with families and the
addition of one of those rare things - a hot summer day meant that the centre
was well supported for it's Country Festival.
FB took to the makeshift stage and, not having time
or the privacy to do a proper soundcheck had to make a few adjustments to the
vocal balance during the first two songs. But it is testament to how
professional they are that they didn't stop, they just played through the
difficulties and everything sorted itself out in the end.
The set list was:
You Make Loving Fun / Gypsy / Albatross / Oh Well /
Seven Wonders / Need Your Love So Bad / Dreams / Oh Diane /
Everywhere / Don't Stop / Rhiannon / Go Your Own Way / The Chain.
No baulking at the inclusion of Oh Diane.... we
will admit it was actually quite good !
It was a bit like an end of term party - we won't
mention any names, but there was a bit of forgetting how to play things and
laughing while trying to sing! Lisa dedicated the aptly titled 'Need
Your Love So Bad' to the animals at the Centre and also dedicated 'Rhiannon' to
Pip's daughter Rhiannon Fidler and to any people who were mad enough to come a
long way to see them (now who could that possibly be I wonder?). But it was
all in a great cause and we noticed a great deal of toe tapping and singing
along from the crowd. From the Fireflies there was Pip, Neil and Rachel
with their respective families - with most of the little ones getting front
row seats (see picture).
Afterwards we were invited over to Alby's house
(next door) for a much needed cup of tea and a chance to meet Stevie and
Christine....his chickens... and the rest of the Francis menagerie....dogs,
parrots, fish, cats and dossing Bac-members!
Only 6 weeks to go to Bilston now - get your
tickets - will be a good show - especially as we found out that there might be
a surprise or two, or three in there....!
