Wildlife Warriors:

Steve Irwin

1962-2006

We do not need a special day to bring you to our minds.
The days we do not think of you are very hard to find.
Each morning when we awake we know that you are gone.
And no one knows the heartache as we try to carry on.
Our hearts still ache with sadness and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to lose you no one will ever know.
Our thoughts are always with you, your place no one can fill.
In life we loved you dearly; in death we love you still.

There will always to be a heartache, and often a silent tear.
But always a precious memory of the days when you were here.
If tears would make a staircase, and heartaches make a lane,
We’d walk the path to heaven and bring you home again.
We hold you close within our hearts; and there you will remain,
To walk with us throughout our lives until we meet again.
Our “family chain” is broken now, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Online Memorial for Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter)

Steve Irwin's passing impressed upon me, as well as millions, the importance of all of our "Wildlife Warriors". As time moves forward not only will this page be a memorial to Steve, but also to all of the warriors I encounter and learn about. Below I will begin to list links to websites in the Rochester, NY area who I believe to be heroes as well. If you know of anyone or any groups/organizations/sanctuaries, please email me and I will post them here!

From the moment I set foot on Alasa Farms/Crackerbox Palace, I felt as if I was "home". Although a little far from where I live, the drive to the farm by way of Lake road (Seaway trail) is breathtaking and worth every moment! Click here for hours and directions.

Lollypop Farms

What can I say about this place? Clean, big and beautiful! Many, many animals to adopt. Sometimes my family and I go to just look at the adoptable animals and spend time with the farm animals outside. It is alot of fun and free! Also, if you are thinking of buying an animal for your family/child/friend, please adopt. Don't buy!

I love this place! I can walk there from my home and spend time with the farm animals. They even have machines (get a handful of feed for 25 cents; what a great idea!) with feed in them so you can feed the animals! There are sheep, goats, Lammas, and chickens. Of course I can't forget about the produce stand there. Not only can you buy the freshest seasonal fruits and veggies there at a fair price, but you should see the bouquets of sunflowers you can buy! Just gorgeous! I have never met a more friendly bunch who work there, either. Come by and spend time with the farm. It is so relaxing.
