The Axemans' Victims
Outline of murders
- May 24, 1918- The Axeman makes his first attack, killing Joe Maggio and his wife.
- June 28, 1918- Mr. Besumer and his wife are attacked by the Axeman. Only Mr. Besumer survives.
- August 3, 1918- Mrs. Schneider is reportedly attacked by an axe-wielding murderer. She survives the attack and gives birth to her baby.
- A week later the murderer strikes the uncle of 2 girls. The girls start screaming, making the Axeman run away.
- March 1919- The Axeman arises again. This time he attacks grocer Charles Cortimiglia and his pregnant wife. Charles is the only one to survive.
- The Axeman threatens to strike again on Tuesday, March 19 if the people don't play jazz music. The people play jazz music that night and no murders take place.
- August 10, 1919- Steve Boca is the Axemans' next victim. He is struck unconscious by his axe, awakening later with pleas for help.
- September 2- Pharmacist Mr. Carlson fires at his back door when hearing a scratching noise. A chisel was left behind afterwards.
- September 3, 1919- Nineteen year-old Sarah Lauman becomes attacked by the Axeman of New Orleans, luckily surviving afterwards.
- October 27, 1919- The Axeman of New Orleans makes his last murder as he kills Mike Pepitone with a blow to the skull.
