However, I am just beginning to realize was bollocks that is. I mean, I used to make excuses for the governments flaws, and I still do. I mean, the whole immigration thing, I understand. It's difficult for people to immigrate here because if it was easy millions would come and we'd be forced into another depression. But, what really tipped me off was when I finally came to the realization that the Federal Reserve really isn't Federal at all. It is not a part of the government, but a seperate business that prints out sheets of dollars for 6 cents a sheet and then says that they are worth a certain ammount.
I understood that our money meant nothing. But, now I find that the ammount that our money is determined by an organization that isn't even governmental. We are controlled by some rich guy in an office somewhere and we can't even vote him out of office! How ridiculous is that? That took away the gold standard and all, so our money is empty IOU's but now I find that how much it's worth isn't even an actual monetary value!
At least other countries have money that means something. So, what does that say about my beloved country? Basically, I feel like my government is mooning me from a mirrored window somewhere and laughing about it.
