Lit. 1-27-40 Jeremy Aure The Castle in the Attic If I could change places with one of the characters it would be Sir Simon. Because he is brave and knows a lot. It would be cool to be him because he’s a knight and it would be cool to have a sword and a shield. Sir Simon doesn’t have to do anything but try to get back home and I like just sitting around and relaxing. If I was Sir Simon I would have tried to maybe explore outside of the castle. I would try making more of a life that was like we he was in the middle ages. I would have look around and seen what it was like in the new times that William was living in and when I got back I would have all of this ideas of what to try to invent. Then I could become famous for inventing all of the different things. I would be Sir Simon because I could relate to how he acted both physically and mentally. I would try to make a better living for myself. Try to explore. And I would do a lot of different things then Sir Simon did. I really enjoyed reading this book it was one of the books really read. I would recommend this book to people of all ages. The characters in the book really capture my imagination and that’s what a lot of children are looking for.

My Side of the Mountain Sam Gribley is a boy that is tired of New York City. So with his knowledge and skills he runs away to The Catskill Mountains. The Catskill Mountains is an old homestead that his grandparents once owned. All Sam has is forty dollars, a penknife, a ball of cord, and some flint and steel. The first couple of nights for Sam are tough. Sam struggles to try to get food and keep warm. Eventually Sam adjusts and becomes a true man of the forest. He lives of food from the river, deer hide as clothes, and lives in a hallow tree in the forest. One day Sam comes up with a brilliant idea. Sam steals a baby peregrine falcon form its nest and adopts the bird and names it Frightful. Sam and Frightful become very close friends. Sam teaches Frightful how to hunt for food. Time passes and Sam realizes that he is getting very lonely with the harsh cold winter right around the corner. Sam runs into many people that are either lost or are going for a nice joyful walk around Catskills. I recommend this book to everyone. It has great tales about living of the land. The book describes some things that are important if you decide to go out in the forest and try to make a living. Sam shows great ability to live in the wilderness and his parents letting him do so. If you are going to read a book that has suspense and stories about the harsh forest, then read My Side of the Mountain.
