This is a test layout to see if the 30 kV feed would light up a fluorescent tube. Seen at left is the charger putting out 13 V at 4 A. The alligator clips are attached to the +ve and -ve leads of the 555 circuit and to a 1000 mF capacitor, which smoothes out the DC to flat-line. Also seen is the heat sink and 555 circuit right next to the 30 kV coil with leads to the tube.
