New Intakes

Currently MCR is housing 19 crocodilians. We have A. Miss (American Alligators), C. Croc (Spectacled Caiman), and C. Niloticus (Nile Crocdile). Thanx to the NUMEROUS showings of the "Fowl Play" episode of Animal Cops, on Animal Planet we are getting calls weekly about intake. We have had calls from Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and even one from California (not counting calls from here in Michigan). Unfortunately we can't make the trips out of state to take in unwanted crocs and ask that you seek local alternatives. If you contact your local zoo or Humane Society, they may have listings for Sanctuaries that can help.

The Michigan Crocodilian Rescue is very happy with the success of our "Gator Pond"!!! This is of course for summer time use, but hopefully the funds will come in allowing us to enclose the pond and use it all year round. The truly nice thing about it is that it gives crocodilians, who have been captive bred, a chance to experience the outdoors. Many never even get the chance to feel the sun on thier backs or rain. This will give them something close to the natural elements that they would experience. The pond measures 20 feet across and goes to a depth of 3 feet. It utilises a large pool filter and is stocked with many varieties of fish and turtles. As far as we know this is the only outside enclosure being used, by a facility of our type, in the state of Michigan

If you look close you can see a 2 1/2" American Alligator swiming on the right side of the pond
We also utilise seperate enclosure to ensure new arrivals are healthy and to give us a chance at one on one dealing before releasing them into our ponds with the others
