The world-wide web, abbreviated WWW or simply "web", has been called ". . .the universe of network-accessible information, the embodiment of human knowledge."(1)
The technical definition of World Wide Web is "All the resources and users on the Internet that are using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)." (2)
(3)The best definition of WWW is "A system of servers that support specifially formatted documents . . .formatted in a script called HTML. . . that supports links to other documents, as well as graphics, audio, and video files. This means that you can jump from one spot to another simply by clicking 'hot spots'"
Lets explore that definition. (4) Servers, which support resources and store files (as mentioned above), can be found all over the world. However, not all servers are connected to the WWW. Clients are the internet users around the world. Clients are "connected" to servers"
HTML, or Hyptertext Markup Language is the language that all websites are written in. This language is read by a browser, which the displays the web page.
The world wide web is the means by which you may enter a website, click on a link, and be instantly transferred to another site.
