Assignment #11
Instructions
There are an overwhelming number of careers available in the world today. It was once estimated that 80% of the careers existing by the time today's kindergardeners are adults haven't even been created yet.
I don't know yet what kind of career I will pursue, but I am considering one in science. I love to research, and also enjoy to teach, so will probably enter a science career and then teach that field in a college later on.
One of the many science careers that interest me is astronomy. I believe the following quote defines astronomy best.
"Astronomers study the solar system, stars, and galaxies. They use principles of math and physics to answer questions about the nature of the universe." (Source: http://icpac.indiana.edu/career_profiles/26271-0.html)
Astronomers study the universe using math and physics, gather large amounts of data, and then make a conclusion based on their information. Many astronomers teach, in addition to their job as an astronomer.
There are tons of excellent sites with information on astronomy online. (Click here to see some great links!)
This is not a high-demand field and it can often be very difficult to find a good position, but it would be something I would very much enjoy.
