It was a dank night and a humid one at that. Lingering near the light given off by a vandalized lightpost was the poluted mist. The moon was shrouded out by a cloak of clouds-so the street light was the only source of light.
The woman's overcoat was trailing over the ground and dislodging dust that streamed up from the ground towards the lighted lamp haven. She was mysterious and cloaked in black, nearly disguised completely. She turned down the alleyway. Garbage bags long discarded littered the stoned sidewalk. At the end a kerosene lantern was on the ground and a figure crouching behind it.
I'm sorry, so sorry, said the raspy voice, but it was too late. Anybody at the end of the alleyway would have seen a flickering of shadows at the end of the alley and then two silhouettes-one doubled back against a shadow-blade and the other leaning forward with the knife in his hands....
Wow...I love that scene!
