"Jade, Aurora, Rosie, Laura!!!!!!" Stevie came running into the 3-bedroom apartment that she shared with her four best friends.
"Stevie, what have I said about yelling?!" Aurora yelled back from her room, she shared with Laura and Rosie.
"You’re all gonna freak!"
Aurora, Laura, Rosie, and Jade came out of their rooms to see what Stevie had to tell them. They went into the living room and looked at her.
"So, what are we gonna freak about?" Jade asked.
"Ok, you know Jive Records?"
"Yeah?" Laura asked, confused at where Stevie was going with this.
"Well, they’re holding auditions this Saturday here in Chicago!"
All the girls went wide-eyed.
"Where’d you hear this?" Rosie asked.
"On the radio and plus I saw a flyer at the campus."
"Why were you at the campus?" Jade asked.
"Just was. We had a photo shoot there."
"Oh, ok. So, when are these auditions?" Laura asked.
"Saturday. Were you not listening?" Stevie teased.
"Oh, sorry. I was and wasn’t. So, are we gonna do it?"
Laura looked at the other 3 girls and tried to read their expressions. They all looked like they were thinking about it. Finally Jade smiled.
"I think we should! We’ve been waiting for something like this to happen and it’s finally here. I don’t think we should miss it! What do you say girls?" Jade asked.
"We’re gonna do it!" Came the reply.
"Alright, we gotta practice and figure out what we’re going to audition for them." Stevie explained.
"Are they looking for groups? Or just girls to make up a group?" Aurora asked.
"Groups. They want a 5-girl group that are already friends and that can live with each other. They don’t want to be like those shows ‘Making the band’ and ‘Pop Stars’."
"Ok, cool!"
The girls fell silent, they were all thinking of what could happen to their lives that Saturday. They were excited and nervous already.
They had been friends for about 3 years, all of them automatically becoming best friends. They met at a dance class in Chicago, all of them new to the city. Jade moved to Chicago from West Palm Beach, Florida with her family. Stevie was from California, and moved to Chicago with her mom and step dad. Her step dad was transferred there. Rosie moved from Houston, Texas with her brothers just to start a new life. Aurora was from Kansas and moved to Chicago with her baby brother and dad to start over as well. And Laura moved from Perth, Western Australia to be on her own for a while.
When they met, they all clicked and all had the same dream. Of becoming famous, either acting or singing. They decided to form a group and try to make it. They moved in together after being friends for a year. Jade being the oldest, became more like their mother, although she was crazy and always wanted to have fun, she watched out for Stevie, Aurora, Rosie and Laura. And they came to her for everything and she came to them for everything.
Laura’s family went back to Australia after living in Chicago for a year and a half. Laura didn’t want to go back, so she stayed with the girls. They were more like sisters than anything else. And they all knew how to get on each other’s nerves from time to time, like sisters do.
Stevie and Rosie were the wild ones, Laura was the crazy one, Aurora was the sweet, caring one, and Jade was crazy, but sweet and caring too. They all were crazy, and acted like teenagers were supposed to, and always knew when to have fun. Stevie did modeling as a side job, ‘til the girls got noticed and signed. Singing and being in the spot light was her passion.
They were still silent, just thinking of what they should do. And all couldn’t wait ‘til Saturday got there....
