Todays date is 11/24/2000,it is now 50 years later since the start of the Korean War.
While surfing the internet I found a web site called the Korean War Project
It is a wonderful site and all Korean vets should check it out.Through this site I was able to make contact with a few fellow crewmen of the Henderson that was aboard at the same time I was and we are now communicating via e-mail. Be sure to check out this site,it is very informative and will bring back a lot of memories.
After doing a lot of research, I have found that the USS Henderson returned twice more to the Korean war zone after I transfered to the USS Stockham. She sustained minor damage from shore batteries at Hungnam,North Korea on 23 Feb,1952 and again on 17 June,1953 at Wonsan,Morth Korea.History Navy
And it grieves me to report that our gallant ship was sold to Pakistan on 30 Sept.,1980, and is now in her new countries Coast Guard .Her name now is Tughril.DANFS However she will always be remembered by the officers and enlisted men that served aboard her as the USS Henderson or Hendy.
