Welcome to the rumours section. Here is where you will find the latest information on the upcoming books - not, you will notice, the movie or merchandise, as I refuse to have anything to do with Time Warner/AOL because of their shutting down of Harry Potter fan sites. But enough of that. You came here for breaking news on the books, not my personal rants, right? Well, here you are. Before you begin, I must warn you of the definition of a rumour. Rumours (or rumors, depending on where you live) are unconfirmed information. So none of this is necessarily going to happen. Now that's over with, go ahead and read. Facts in normal text, rumours in italics

Book V Rumours

• It has been officially confirmed that the title of Book V will be Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
• We will (finally!) learn something about Lily Potter and her background.
• Lupin will be back, although probably not as a professor
• It will finally be explained in detail why Harry has to stay with the Dursleys every summer - we know there are spells protecting him there, but how? This is what we'll find out.
• Hermione will be made a prefect! (Gee, d'you think?!)
• It's confirmed by J. K. Rowling that Ron and Hermione will probably be an item in this book (*grins as she watches the Harry/Hermione 'shippers' faces*)

Book VI Rumours

• Peter Pettigrew might try to come after Harry to kill him
• There is a rumour that Harry will finally actively try to track Voldemort down and kill him in this book
• Correlating to the above rumour, some say that Hermione will be injured in the hospital wing whilst Harry and Ron go after Moldie Voldie

  There are two contradicting rumours about the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. They are as follows:

• Professor Quirrel's brother comes to teach, but he hates Harry as he believes that Harry's responsible for his brother's death (well, he is...)
• Professor Lupin's brother, who is also a werewolf and is named Romulus, teaches Defence this year. It's possible that through this, the ancient Roman legend of the brothers Romulus and Remus will be reenacted: Romulus gets into a fight with Remus, kills him, and goes on to found the Roman Empire...
• One of Ron's brothers might die, but please don't panic unless this is confirmed.
• Harry and Draco might reach a temporary truce in this book, but they'll go back to being enemies after "the big scary part."

The following rumour has been flying around for a while, and as it's disputable whether it applies to Book VI or VII, I'm going to put it right between the two: The title of this book is Harry Potter and the Green Flame Torch, in which Harry finds a torch that will heal "good" and kill "evil"; however, I doubt this rumour, as J. K. Rowling would not be so straightforward about the lines between good and evil. Or maybe it's a plot device...

Book VII Rumours

• You thought Goblet of Fire was long? Wait till you see this one, according to JKR. I believe that, in searching for suitable reference as to how long it is, she compared it to the Encyclopedia Britannica, so that gives you an idea. This is going to be whopper, folks.
• Although Lupin does get a role in Order of the Phoenix, his big moment(s) will be in Book VII. He will definitely play a large part in this book.
• JKR says that in this book, we will find out why some people become ghosts when they die and some don't.
• NEWSFLASH OF THE CENTURY: (hope everyone recognised the sarcasm there) J. K. has reportedly finished that last chapter, and the last word is scar. However, this may change.
• There is a rumour that states that Snape might fall in love
• One of the students in Harry's year will become a teacher, but it's not Harry, Ron, or Hermione. Top two candidates now are Neville and Draco.
• Harry and Draco might have to team up yet again to fight the Dark Side (hmm... might this be Draco going against his upbringing...?)
• We will find out something major about Lily - but please, nobody say that Voldemort is Harry's real father! It's so cliche!
• Hermione will be Head Girl!

Miscellaneous Rumours

• Aragog, the Weasleys' flying car, and the Dementors will all be back! *cackles*
• We'll find out what jobs Lily and James held to get so filty rich, and this will play a large part in future books
• The fact that Harry has his mother's eyes will also be crucial in upcoming stories
• Yet another bit of info that you'll want to remember 'cause it'll play a bigger part later on is that Voldemort is the Heir of Slytherin... for some reason this will be important (*coughs* I refuse to believe that Harry is the Heir of Gryffindor!)
• As Dumbledore said, magic can't bring people back to life, so we will NOT see a live Lily or James
• Time-Turners will come into the story again (*mumbles and grumbles* I hate time travel...)
• A bit of information on Lily... her maiden name was Evans and she was in Gryffindor. (*scowls* There goes the plot line that has her in Slytherin... God damn it...)
• Supposedly, Professor Sinistra (Astronomy) is Ravenclaw's Head of House and the Ravenclaw ghost is confirmed as being the Grey Lady
• Someone who has been unaware of his/her magical powers will suddenly find them in upcoming books (probably Filch...)
• A couple of things that will NOT happen.. Harry will not be tempted to the Dark Side, and Lockhart will probably not be back.
• Voldemort has an heir (*shudders* That's not a good mental picture...)
• We're going to learn more about Harry's grandparents!
• There is more to the Sorting Hat, and here I quote loosely from JKR: "The character you will be most surprised to see development in is the Sorting Hat." Well, there's definitely more to it... I mean, a talking hat that can hide a sword? Might there just possibly be something more to it?
• We'll find out more about Professor Trelawney's first prediction, and how (if?) it came true!
• Harry might get expelled from Hogwarts for some reason, then let back in after he does one of his infamous heroic (sucidal?) deeds.
