Bergey Family History
Third Generation
Until 1824 almost all the Mennonites coming to North America from Europe settled in Eastern Pennsylvania. They had been encouraged to come by the British. When the American colonies broke away from Great Britain some of the Mennonites decided to pick up and move again. Many chose to move North into Canada where they could still live under British rule.
