Jan Vermeer

ah... Vermeer. what a guy. the man had talent. that has no doubt and he did some interesting things with the art of his location. He had the known Netherlandish convention of having subjects at a window with the corner about a 1/3 of the way, but he made it vivid, which shows that Vermeer was still cleary in the Delft school but he did it better.

Something about the texture of the clothing...the realism of the subjects. We can still relate to them. The way they concentrate on what they are doing, they're beauty and their soft and comfortable interactions with the viewer. What makes Vermeer just quite oh so intersting is the way he can paint with great detail, and still make the scene feel soft and airy.

i present Vermeer.
