Uriah's Lake

Part 2

Rachel opened her eyes. Had it all been just a dream, she
wondered? She slowly reached up to rub her eyes, everything
seemed to be hazy. She blinked a few times and then realized
she still lay deep beneath the lake.

She started to panic and then realized she was breathing. She
began to swim towards the surface, but chains of lake murk
held her to the bottom. She pulled as hard as she could, but
the chains that bound, held her strong.

She sat staring into the murk, her wild black hair waving
bove her. Who were the creatures that brought her here?
Where had they gone??

A hand flew to her neck, one of her nervous habits, and
felt gills. She let out a small scream, the best she could
do underwater. What all had they done to her, she
wondered? Why had they not taken her life?

----

Swimming in the distance, just out of sight, swam the
one creature that had brought the human under.
Dover paced as water creatures do, by use of tail.
He meant her no harm, but it was already to late, she
was turning into one of them. He had only wanted to
speak to her, maybe taste her hair.. it was beautiful.
But, she had bit him, enough to taste his blood.

The others had left as he pulled her in. They all knew
the trouble that they all could be in, now that she was
starting to transform. No human had ever traveled this
far into their realm. Only creatures that now haunted
places like Loch Ness.

Dover started to wimper.

------

Rachel's eyes could just make out a small shape gliding
back and forth. She even heard a sharp sound, that
would have made her hair stand on end. The small
shape turned into a larger shape, as it swam closer.

----

Eye to eye they came. A dark scowl on both faces,
each trying to hide the fear that was in both of them.
