Spirits

What I did not feel
Was the coolness that
Usually wraps around my
Shoulders.
A coldness surrounded
My legs instead,
Holding me still.
A sound thudded in my
Head...
It wasn't a heartbeat,
It was a pounding.

The sound grew closer,
And louder.
Terror was in your eyes,
But not mine.
The coldness slid up my legs,
Spreading through my
Body.
I felt different emotions,
I slowly became someone else.

You became a shimmer,
And then vanished.
You screamed, and the
Spirit tore free from me...
It was afraid.

I cried and crumbled to the
Floor.
Memories that were not my
Own slowly faded away...
Warmth crept back over me,
As I stood up to walk away hoping
One day to return.
