CHAPTER V

Sargatanis reached into the air and looked as if he were pulling an invisable
rope. His eyes were blank as he chanted . He could feel when the three people
entered his world, and it filled him with a bit of fear. He searched for Rachel,
but she was not one of the three. But he could somehow feel her near. He focused
his eyes on the earth out his window, yes...she would be coming too.

---------

Rachel felt the grass beneath her feet. She opened her eyes and looked around to
see trees. This had to be a dream, a really vivid dream, she thought. A thick
forrest that was all too familiar to her was what she saw. She closed her eyes
and opened them again, hoping to go back into the comforting darkness she had
been in. When she opened her eyes again, the vision was there like before.

She started to walk down a path that had been walked down before. The rain
started to fall, but she could barely feel it. Her bare feet gathered mud and
thorns. She breathed in the air, and realized she could actually smell the air.
This couldn't be a dream she thought, as she began to move faster into the
forest.

 ---------

Sargatanis smiled. "She's here." He said, as his glazed eyes turned to Sharlette.
"Did you bring her here?" Sharlette asked, almost in fear.
Rachel could be her downfall.

"She brought herself here. I felt her enter, but it was not like the others. Her
spirit entered, not her whole self." He replied and then continued. "Her body
rests where she came from."

He rubbed his hands together, and Sharlette watched him out of the
corner of her eye. Maybe she would use this to her advantage, she thought.

"Safe haven." Sharlette whispered. She turned to
Sargatanis and spoke. "Bring her to me, I want her."

Sargatanis stared at her for a moment. He wasn't quite sure of trusting the
woman yet. What did she want of him, of Rachel, he wondered?

 ---------

Rachel stood confused in the middle of a swamp. She didn't remember this, she
thought, as she fell into the mud. It would be night soon and she wanted to be
out of the cold as best she could. She didn't want to freeze, nor did she want
to be eaten by any of the swamp creatures. She stood and listened for a moment.
She had never known a swamp to be silent.

She felt as if she were going in circles. She stood still and tried to regain
her barings, when she heard a noise in the distance. Somthing was running, but
from which direction, she had no idea. The sound gripped her with fear, and she
suddenly wish to be invisiable. She put a hand over her mouth to keep from
breathing too loud. She started to back up, still not knowing which direction
the sound was coming from.

She fell to the wet muck as a hard hand crashed into her neck. She lay face down
in the mud for a moment, when a man's hand pulled her out of the mud. She tried
to stand, but dizzyness made her fall back to the ground. When she fell she felt
a hardness of cold floor instead of the mud. She pulled herself to her knees and
stared at the same boots she had seen the night of the wreck.

 -------

Sargatanis laughed, as Rachel looked at him in horror. He watched as
she backed herself as far as she could away from him.

Sharlette stood behind Rachel and pulled her to a standing position by the hair.
"How nice of you to visit." Sharlette says as they stand looking eye to eye.

Rachel's eyes try to focus in the mist of her pain. She looks from Sharlette to
Sargatanis. "This can't be, you can't be!" Rachel says as she tries to push
Sharlette away.

"Sharlette, i still need an Heir." Sargatanis says and walks over to them.
He traces a finger down Rachel's cheek.

"Don't touch me!" Rachel says through her teeth. She spits at him,
and he slaps her face. "I'm your daughter you sick shit." She yells.

"Ah, but he is not." Sharlette says with a shrill laugh.

Sargatanis shimmers in front of her, showing her the true man behind the evilness.

"Bryce?" Rachel asks, in shock. She puts a hand over her mouth.
The pain andshock were too much to bear, she began to vomit.

"Too bad the baby inside you is a girl." Sargatanis says to Rachel.

"What?" Rachel asks as she looks up at him with surprise.
She hadn't told anyone she was pregnant, not even Dwayne.

"We have to end this pregnancy." Sharlette
says as she pulls Rachel back to her.

"Never!" Rachel said and pushed Sharlette away. She closed her
eyes hoping to wake up from the horrid dream. "This isn't real!!!"
She cried.

"Like you have a choice!" Sharlette said continuing to laugh.

Sargatanis put a hand to Rachel's stomach and closed his
eyes. He could feel the small child twitch in pain.

"You're not killing my child!" Rachel's screamed and pulled away from him.
"Dwayne will find me, he will save me." She ran to the window and started to
scream his name. Tears streamed down her cheeks, why couldn't she wake up!?

Sargatanis walked up behind her and put a hand over her mouth.."Shhhh, he can't
hear you." He lead a sobbing Rachel away from the window. "Don't waste your
breath darling."

 -----

Sharlette stared at them, and shivered.
