CHAPTER IV

Bryce reached out for Sinata, and as their hands touched Bryce could feel an
electrical pulse flow through him. He tried to pull away from the smiling
child, but could only watch as they melted into each other. Numbness began
to set in, and then his mind was not just his own.

Sargatanis stepped through the brush and into his mansion courtyard. The
guards bowed to him, and welcomed him in as if he had never left. He turned
to look at where the child and the man had once been, and then looked at his
hands. The hands shimmered for an instant and he caught a glimpse of Bryce's
hands. This will do for now, he sighed.

He walked into the castle touching everything. His hands felt as if they
were asleep, as if needles were jabbing him. It didn't matter though, he was
happy to be home finally.

"Sargatanis." A female voice said from behind him.

He turned to see Sharlette standing before him. He smiled, as
he took her hand. "Did you do it?" He asked her.

"He's hanging as we speak." She said with a laugh. "With your voice
caressing my thoughts, it was easy. I gave him the poison as Anna watched.
She dare not fight me. I left her there to rot along with him. He
practically hung himself." She said with a wave of her hand.

Sharlette had turned to him not long after what had happened many months
before. It wasn't hard to bring her back to his side. Once he returned her
beauty, she was all his to do what he wished with. He kissed her hand, and
looked into her deep dark eyes.

"They will be coming." Sargatanis said, as he took his place on the throne.

"For the baby." Sharlette said, and took her seat next to him.

-----------------------

Jessica searched the house in a panic that would soon lead to hysteria.  No
longer was just the baby missing, Bryce was missing too. His car was still
at the house, she checked that. But the more she yelled, it seemed the
quieter the house got.  She ran up the stairs for the fifth time screaming
Bryce's name.

"In here!" A voice said. coming from her room.

"Where??" She screamed, as she ran into her bedroom.

"Here." The voice whispered.

"QUIT PLAYING GAMES YOU MORON!!" Jessica yelled and turned in circles. The
closet standing ajar caughter attention. "ARE YOU IN THERE?? COME OUT!!"

She ran to the closet and threw the door open. She stood open mouthed
staring at the sight before her. She rubbed her eyes, and shut the door. She
opened the door again, hoping to see clothes, but what she found was a green
field. A cool breeze reached her, and felt as if it wished to drag her in.
She shut the closet hard, and decided to call Dwayne.

-------------------

As Dwayne stepped out of the hospital, he answered
his cell phone on the second ring.

"Hel..." was all Dwayne could get out, before
Jessica started frantically talking to him.

"Thank GOD you answered!! The closet is a field....I hear voices from there,
and wind. Something wants me!! Bryce and Sinata are missing. MY CLOTHES, I
can't find MY clothes!! "Jessica said breathlessly into the phone.

"What? Slow down." Dwayne said, and switched the phone to his other ear. Her
almost screaming was too much for him.

"I'm only saying this one more time, NOW LISTEN!!! Sinata was gone this
morning. I started searching, and Bryce started searching. Now Bryce and
Sinata are gone. I think they went into the closet.. I keep hearing voices."
Jessica said through gritted teeth.

"VOICES?" Dwayne asked.

"Did I stutter Dwayne? Voices.. Are you still there HELLO???"
Jessica asked, and tapped on the phone.

"I'm thinking."Dwayne sighed, and shook his head. She should have never
rebuilt, he thought. " Don't go through the closet door, it's a porthole to
the past. A porthole to something worse maybe. I'll be there in a few
minutes." Dwayne said and hung up the phone on his end.

Jessica threw the phone on the bed, and sat down on the floor with her back
to the door. Dwayne didn't have to worry about her going through the
"porthole" by herself.

----------------

Dwayne entered Rachel's hospital room with a look of frustration on his
face. He stood at the edge of her bed and rubbed his temple.

"What's wrong?" Shadow asked him.

"That house was rebuilt, that's what." He replied and sat heavily into a
chair that was next to the bed. "There is a porthole in Jessica's closet,
and it seems that the baby and Bryce have gone through. Jessica's clothes
are gone too. I have this feeling that she is more worried about her clothes
than the baby or Bryce."

"It wouldn't surprise me."Shadow said with a laugh, as she watched Dwayne.
"She was so insistant on rebuilding that house, there was no way we could
stop her."  Shadow shivered from the memories that she wished to forget.

"Are you willing to go back?" Dwayne asks Shadow.
"Chris, are you willing to go?"

"Why do we have to go back, Dwayne? If that monster is somehow back, don't
you think he will come for Rachel??" Shadow asked Dwayne.

"I'll stay here. You guys go on. " Chris said with sleep in his voice.
"Dwayne, don't worry about Rach, she will be safe with me."

"You ready?" Dwayne asked, as he stood up to leave.

"No." Shadow said, as she followed him of of the room.

----------------------------

Jessica ran down the stairs at the sound of a car door slamming. She greeted
Dwayne and Shadow before they could even knock on the door.

"I am so happy to see you guys. I have been hearing all sorts of sounds from
the otherside of that door. I leaned against it, so if anything wanted to
get through, it couldn't." She said, as Dwayne and Shadow stepped passed
her. "Where are you going, how do you know where to go?" Jessica asked, as
she watched them enter her bedroom. She ran up the stairs and watched as
Dwayne started to open the closet door.

"You're right Jessica, your clothes are all gone." Dwayne said as he looked
at the field before him.

"This is the same room as the other porthole. Though before it was burned
down, it was a fireplace that we were sucked through." Shadow replied to
Jessica's question.

The three people stood and stared at the world beyond the closet door.
Dwayne and Shadow both recognized the white mansion that lay a few hundred
yards away. It looked older and in need of repair now.

Shadow took a deep breath and stepped into the porthole first. She
shimmered, and then Dwayne could see her on the otherside, waving for them
to come through..

"Let's roll." Dwayne said, as he pulled a
screaming Jessica through with him.

"WHAT THE HELL, I DIDN'T WANT TO COME TOO!!" Jessica yelled.

"Look Dwayne." Shadow said, as she pointed to their clothes.  Unlike last
time, they had arrived in time period clothes.

"I have a feeling Sargatanis is expecting us." Dwayne says,
as he turns his attention to Chester's mansion.
