The dream was always the same. She ran, always wadding in The shallow pond as if Searching. Reaching under And pulling up the mucky Sand.
She woke to the sound of her Alarm clock. It was 3 am, and Just like in the dream she Was headed out to the Pond. Careful to keep from waking Her older brother, she Scrambled down through her Open window.
She stood staring at the pond For what seemed like hours, But on first glance at her Watch it had only been a few Minutes. Will he come tonight? She thought. She ran her hands through Her thick black hair, pulling Out any sign of tangles. Shivering, she pulled her shawl tight around her shoulders.
A sound in the night draws her Attention to the other side of The pond. A white lion sat watching her, It's eyes never blinking. Then before her very eyes that lion Transformed into her knight.
His smile was gentle, his Clothes of pure silk. He was a ghost of the past, And yet he touched her as if He were real. He kissed her hand as he Guided her through the shallow Pond. No words spoken, as they Mounted his horse and took off At full speed.
She felt more free than she Had ever felt. Her tyrant of a brother Keeping her locked up for Days upon days. She closed her eyes as the wind Blew through her hair.. she Never wanted this to end.
Dawn slowly approached, as she Stood at her window and watched As her knight silently slipped Away. She knew he would be back for her, And one day hopefully take her Away.
She turned to her bedroom Door, finding it still locked Just as before. Fighting back tears, she falls Into bed wishing for the night To come again. Wishing for the time when She would see her Knight of Dreams once more.
