Fairy Tales and Leprechaun Shoes

I skated away on the river.
I dove deep in the sea with the
Eagles.
I ran with the ants to hide from
The sun.
I put on shoes...leprechaun shoes.
I found not only gold,
But Snow White still sleeping.

I rubbed my eyes to find the
Image gone..
The gold turned to dust,
And the leprechaun shoes turned to
Shiney glass slippers.

I broke them as I took them off.
I saved a piece of glass,
But not before I snatched a glance
Of my reflection.
I was ugly...
I was ashamed...

I awoke from the alarm clock
Striking noon...
Grass stained my socks,
Water dripped on the floor...
My hand held a flower...
A piece of gold filled my
Own shoe...

I stepped to the window to
Find my prince...
He yelled to me from far below..
I had cut off my hair..
I threw him my gold,
I threw him my flower...

He ran from my sight,
Screaming all the way...
Thanks for my gold back...
