By the Lake

Meet me by the lake, my love,
Under the moonlit sky.
Meet me by the lake, my love,
Though make it not a lie.

Where even brilliant stars do shine
Caught in the black above,
Must compete against your eyes
That gleam the light of love.

And gentle winds whom sweep the night
Caresses must defeat,
The sweet sensations of thy hand's
Light brush across my cheek.

Come hither, my sweet light
And make dark longings flee.
For in thy kiss alone
Will my tortures cease to be.

Come to the place where waters shine
Alone for you and me,
Where nature's mirrors reflect a love
Our hearts can never free.

A haven from a world of lies;
Pray make thy words ring true.
Speak only love that will not fade
When dawn's sun shall rise anew.

Come to me love, but only if
Thy touch intention's right.
Do not appear if what you feel
Shall vanish with the night.

Meet me by the lake, my love,
Under the moonlit sky.
Meet me by the lake, my love,
Though make it not a lie.
