Fostering greyhounds in your home is a wonderful way to help out your local adoption group. It is also a very rewarding experience to see them discover what its like to go from racer to retiree. I have wanted to adopt every one of my stewards, but that of course, is impossible! I love them all, and keep in touch with each family who has one of my fosters. I have even gotten to babysit two of my "graduates!" My 2 greys,Charley and Jeno, never seem to mind showing their racing pals the ropes of homelife... (See above picture) Here's some pictures of greys I've fostered:
Pirate. Here's Pirate in his new home. He now resides on one of the most beautiful beaches on the west coast of Florida (ONLY ten minutes from me--GRIN!) with his parents, and a "greysister" named Cindy. I have been fortunate enough to babysit him since his adoption.
Brutus, also in his new home. This picture was sent to me Xmas,2000! Conveniently for me, "Brutie" also lives just about five minutes away! Do you notice a pattern developing here??? I like keeping my boys very close to home!!
Barkley. "Barkeys" was adopted; however, due to a recent family tragedy, he is now again in our care...His mommy misses him terribly, BUT of course, I'm selfishly happy to have him back in my home!!! ***UPDATE*** See "Pilot" below for additional information on Barkley!
Buddy. Remember Buddy from the previous page? Like I said, he lives within walking distance of my home! I took this picture when I was fortunate enough to babysit him for a few days, post-adoption.***UPDATE*** Buddy now has a playmate... ALSO see "Pilot" (below)
Printmaster. Printmaster was recently adopted and I miss him terribly, but he has a GREYT home. Although they live a little further away, he has a wonderful new life, a GREYT new mom and dad, and...I am very happy to report that I receive regular emails about him!!!
Pilot. (Pilot's official adoption photo.) This sweet boy came into my home when BUDDY'S DADDY expressed an interest in fostering my Barkey-boy ( geez, now I'm keeping my foster greys close to home!!! How much more protective can I be? ) Pilot's personality is emerging each and every day. He's playful and funny while maintaining the ever popular couch potato syndrome..Below is a picture of Pilot proving his transition!
Obviously, he's doing quite well adapting to retirement! No need to explain this position to seasoned greyhound lovers!
