Fear

6/21 - Fear is another product of evolution. It is obvious how it applies to survival of the species and it is actually a good thing. But, in these times fear sometimes becomes more of a burden than a survival tool. Being startled or flinching are healthy responses, and to try to control them is pretty stupid. But, other types of fear are most of the time not necessary. Basically, what I'm saying is that nobody should really be afraid of anything. Now I don't mean be stupid and go run through traffic because you aren't affraid, or to pick a fight with someone five times the size of you because you have "No Fear." What I mean is, if you live a life that is not purposefully threatening to other people, and you live contently and intelligently, there is no reason to be afraid. If something is out of your control, then don't be afraid of it. Worry when worry is needed, like if you work better under pressure then don't tell yourself not to worry so that you do a sloppy job. I just think that most common fears are mini-paranoias, and cause more stress than needed. Stress causes healthy problems and sadness. If you can live fearless yet smart, then you will be more content.

How this applies to you: to all you teens, do not worry about so much. It is easy to worry as a teen, and most of those worries are not even worth consideration.

For you adults, do not worry about money when you are doing your best, because no matter how bad things get, you can always start over with the way the market is today. Maybe that's more of an American thing, but not worrying about money works from a materialistic sense also. If you lose all of your possessions, you still have your health, and many times if you really want it and you really try there are ways to get back on your feet. And don't worry about relationships, because there are many people in this world and most of them are different from the people you know now. So don't give up on life, and don't worry, be happy!
