As
I sit down to write this its hard to figure out where to start.
Thus, I will start at the beginning. I was born at the Council Aerie,
along with one egg from each dragon clan. The Council rules the
islands known as Io's Blood Isles, called such because of the legend
stating that the isles were made when Io, the Great Concordant dragon
himself, bled into the sea. We were raised as clutch mates until
we were no longer mere hatchlings. This has been done since the
founding of the Council of Wyrms, to at least try to smooth the
differences between each race of dragon. Soon afterwards came the
Great War, where the clans banded together and flew against the
human, elves, and dwarves on the main land. My sister, Ayurie, and
mother both perished in the final battle of that war. When the dragons
strove to break the alliance, at the city once known as Tal en'Ektele.
After that terrible day it was called Tal en'Gurtha, or the city
of Death.
After the loss of the war, the Council was in an uproar. None of
the Wyrms could consider that they had lost because they were not
destined to rule the humanoids. In such an atmosphere it was easy
for Malice, head of clan Bloodtide, to whisper rumors against Clan
Cloudkill. Voulge, leader of the metalics on the council, could
do nothing to stop the spread of the rumors. Finally a decision
was reached, in closed session. That night Clan Cloudkill died.
All except for one young dragon that was sent from his home in the
middle of the night. Voulge had summoned me, and sent me away mere
hours before the attack occurred.
What
followed were many years of turmoil that I would rather not live
over again. I made my way to a human that Voulge had somehow come
to know. I was almost immediately imprisoned and kept as a tool
for the next five years of my life. Only when I was rescued by a
band of adventurers was I once again free. For many years I traveled
with this band, until they also disbanded. There was Xavier, elven
mage, Katrina a ranger, and Ro the bravest fighter I have known.
They called themselves the Circle of Light, and it was my honor
to call them my friends.
Once they disbanded and parted for there separate ways, I left as
well. For a long time I wandered, searching for something I did
not know. It was many years later before I found myself in a place
called Rhydin. Such a strange place, with even stranger people.
For a while I was here alone, and stayed that way. Watching the
humanoids that inhabited the realm, but rarely truly interacting
with them, for I had no clear idea how to. My time was mostly spent
in a place called the Red Dragon Inn. My favorite pass time was
to fall in through the straw roof and drink kegs of ale. It was
a great time, a the life of a bachelor!
It was during this time that I first encountered the realms version
of Dragon Slayers, people whom I loathed. For they killed hatchlings,
and young indiscriminately in the name of the Light. They also killed
one who had had given my heart to, the Lady Brightborn. I also encountered
the Circle of Hectate, a more disturbed group of people I have not
met since. Needless to say I soon found myself involved in a one
person war against these people, and I do use the term loosely for
some of them. It was at this point in my life that I met a friend
who would change the path my life took forever. Kia Cuthlon, as
she is known now, or Kia Keldasa as she was known then, was a friend
almost from the moment we met. She healed me of the worst of my
wounds from battles with the Circle of Hectate, and actually once
sent them a bill! So when she entered the Brotherhood of the Rose,
I soon followed her.
Soon Kia was the Grand Commander of the guild and faced the unenviable
task of rebuilding the once great guild, which had been split from
within by petty squabbles. I spent years within the guild, enjoying
my time with all, and becoming familiar with my new family. I spent
time as an assistant Morale officer, then became the head Morale
officer, and from there Deputy Chief of Staff.
It was during this time that I met my wife, Rhianna Silverbreeze.
She literally had to back me into a corner to get me to kiss her.
Voulge Deathstalk, who intermittently kept up contact with me, nearly
had an aneurysm when he found out I was actually courting an Elf.
One of the happiest moments of my existence was when she accepted
to marry me, and become my Mate.
My
adventures through this time were as varied as they were interesting,
and sometimes deadly. The home I had built near where Dunbouri Hall
stood, outside of the city of Rhydin, was destroyed in a war. I
was killed, as was Malice Bloodtide, the head of the Red dragon
clan who sought to control the Death gate, which was contained inside
of Dragonspire.
Soon after that the BoR came to this new land. I was involved in
the first designs of the new city, to be called New Dunbouri. I
headed the BoR detachment here and kept tabs on all of the SHCoR
masons, workers, and the clan of dwarves that came to help us build.
It took us almost five years to complete the rudimentary building,
and the Great Wall that encircles the city itself. After returning
the Heartstone to its position, so that it could guard the Rift,
and defeating the demons that had poured through that rift, Dunbouri
Hall itself was teleported here from outside of Rhydin. When that
was completed, and the guild had been moved here from Rhydin, I
was given the responsibility of building the Canal. That project
took nearly ten years itself, and needless to say I am done building
for a while after all of that.
I have been blessed with four children. One, Mianna, is the daughter
of Brightborn, and I didn't know she existed until only a few short
years ago. My other daughter, Arielle, is a joy to me and is definitely
her mother's daughter. Rhylin, our youngest boy, is a joy and I
hope will grow up knowing a full life. My fourth, and a miracle
to my wife and I, is Amencartel. She was born to us by the blessing
of a goddess, and I can only hope that she will grow up loving the
future already set for her. Like all fathers I think all my children
to be the best ever born, however, in this case they are.
:::Smiles as he writes that part down and considers what else to
write down. There is so much to say, and the hour grows late already.
His mind skims over the events that have happened in the past few
decades.::;
I became the head of the BoR, Grand Commander, a post which I served
in with honor. It was the greatest honor of my life to serve as
Grand Commander for 16 cycles of the seasons. A time in which I
felt both great sorrow, and great joy, leading the Brotherhood in
the new land that it found itself.
As
all things do, my time as GC came to an end. My energy was drained,
and it was time for new blood to take command of the guild, and
lead it in a new direction. Stepping down from GC was among the
hardest decisions that I have ever been called upon to make. Now,
I spend my time aiding the Brotherhood as I can, and spending time
with my children and wife in Manor Cloudkill. Always will my soul
belong to this land that I now call home, and to these people who
I call my family, my clan.
