The Dozing Dragon It had taken them well over a month to simply decide upon a spot. After that had come weeks of negotiations and planning. Then had, finally, come the actual building. The massive stone walls had taken many weeks to construct. The wards which would protect the building had taken even longer to lay, many of them had actually been built into the walls themselves as they had gone up. Even more labor had gone into building the common room, designing it to minimize the damage that would be caused by an explosion from inside.
Since the closing of the BoR Bar and Grill, the guild had no place to gather, and to relax. That was finally at an end. It stood at the southern edge of Dijas lake, between the lake and the Corellon road. Not far from where the road exits the city, heading East through BoR lands towards those controlled by the Triad of the Rose. She stood three stories tall, three and a half if you counted the cramped attic. The walls were nearly a uniform foot and a half thick, built of gray silver speckled granite. The building was almost uniformly rectangular in shape, with a stable sprouting off its right side. When the sun rose at just the right angle, the building seemed to burn silver, as the light reflected off those flecks of silver. The interior layout of the floors had taken a while to figure out, and some heated discussions had resulted. Finally the floor plan had been worked out. The ground floor was fairly simple in design. A single stone stairway led up to the second and third floors. While a doorway in the rear of the room opened into the kitchen area. The bar ran the length of the right hand wall, behind which were a large assortment of bottles in several floor to ceiling racks, along with a trap door to the wine cellar. Large round tables were liberally spread through the center of the room, while the left wall was lined with booths. A fireplace took up almost all of the rear right corner, and comfortable plush leather chairs surrounded it. The second floor contained the two meeting rooms, both warded against scrying and other types of magical eavesdropping, along with several smaller chambers for single travelers. The third floor was completely given over to larger chambers for those who wished more room, or were traveling together with others. From there only a small pull down trap ladder lead up into the half attic space. The entire building had taken months to construct, more had been spent on securing the foundation. All in all it was a place which welcomed travelers. A place for those weary of the road to come and rest, and for those who fought the constant battle against the darkness to relax for a while. |
