TV Guide Online: Tonight we are chatting with Don Franklin from the series 7 Days. Hi Don! Thanks for coming!

Franklin: Hello. It's great to be here in cyberspace!

Question: How alike are you and your character on 7 Days?

Franklin: Yeah, we are pretty similar We're both principle-based people. I think we both believe in working hard, integrity, and the importance of friendships.

Question: In the seaQuest episode "Games" Dr. Zellar was played by Alan Scarfe. You two met during the filming of that episode, and then met later on in an episode of Outer Limits I believe. What was your reaction when you met him again in Seven Days?

Franklin: My reaction was like..."Whuzzzup!!! Where you been?" It was great to see him. After a while in this business, especially doing episodic TV which I"ve done a lot, you run into the same people. Because the good actors always work. And he's a good one.

Question: When you started playing the role of Craig Donovan, did you get Deja Vu considering you played Commander Ford, a military type character from seaQuest DSV?

Franklin: No. Not at all. I think they're more different than they are alike. The most notable difference is Captain Donovan has a lot more edge than Commander Ford. Captain Donovan has a lot darker past than Ford. I can't say more than that.

Question: Will Donovan get any episodes centered on him? Will he ever backstep?

Franklin: Will he ever "backstep?" I don't really know. I'd like to think that he would backstep soon, but I don't have that information at this point. I know that Jonathan LaPaglia would like me to "backstep," just so he can get a break.

Question: I saw Fast Forward at least 15 times! How did you like working on that? And do you keep in touch with any of you co-stars?

Franklin: I LOVED working on Fast Forward. It was a blast. The only one I keep in touch with after all these years is Gretchen Palmer. But it was an experience of a lifetime. I actually miss dancing.

Question: ARE YOU SINGLE?

Franklin: Yes.

Question: Do you still keep in contact with all of your friends from seaQuest?

Franklin: Yeah. I keep in contact with quite a few of them, actually. Just last night, I had dinner with Marco Sanchez, Ed Kerr, Michael DeLuise and Tim Almondson, all of whom were seaQuest alumni. And a wild time was had by all!

Question: Are we going to get more info through the show on Donovan's background? We see a lot of Parker's background, which is fine, of course.

Franklin: Tonight you will get a lot more of Donovan's background. More than you've seen before. Which is great, actually. I'd like to see Donovan's background explored more extensively. Hopefully next season.

Question: What made you chose acting?

Franklin: It hurt less than dancing. :) It was just a natural progression for me. I suffered a really serious injury doing A Chorus Line back in the '80s, so I had to switch up. I knew I couldn't count on my body, so I decided to focus my efforts elsewhere... on acting. Still trying to figure that acting thing out... :)|

Question: Where is the show taped?

Franklin: Vancouver, BC. Lovely rainy Vancouver. :) Even though it does rain a lot, it is quite nice. I love it.

Question: When does 7 days come on?

Franklin: We are on Wednesday nights... that would be TONIGHT!... at 8:00 PM EST on UPN. I did say that it was tonight at 8:00? :) On right after this chat!

Question: What do you have planned for the hiatus?

Franklin: Actually, one of my plans is to get my voice in shape. I studied voice for 10 years, and since I've been focussing on my acting for the last few years, I've let that lag behind. So, I intend to get that back. Dancing I might not be able to do... but voice I know I can do.

Question: Do you have a dream role that you've always wanted to play?

Franklin: I want to play a really flambouant gay character. From all my years as a dancer, I know sooooo many great gay guys. There are just so many characters to draw from, I'm dying to play someone like that.

Question: What historic events would you like to see covered in the future?

Franklin: Well, you have to remember that we can only go back 7 days. But, we all have things that we'd like to go back and change. I think that's why time travel shows are so popular. We all have events in our lives that we'd like to go back and change.

Question: Has the show been picked up yet for next year?

Franklin: No. We don't know yet. We won't know until the end of this month. If more people watch... tonight at 8:00 on UPN... that will help! :)

TV Guide Online: Thanks Don! We'll be watching (that's in 5 minutes folks!)

Franklin: I had a great time hanging out here and answering all your questions! And thanks for watching!
