 VaanHume Race - 17
An easy going, positive young man ,who lives in the downtown of the former Dalmasca Kingdom which is now under the rule of the Empire. He is not happy with his life under the dictatorship of the empire, and wants the freedom of the citizens and the royal family of Dalmasca. It's his dream to become a pilot of an airship.
 AsheHume Race - 19
She is the only daughter of the King of Dalmasca. This princess will assemble a movement of rebéllion when their country is invaded by Arcadia, in order to free her empire. Many of her colleagues die during the battle against the empire. Although she is losing hope, her position and her pride as the next ruler of their Kingdom pushes her to continue on. She fights with a sword which was offered to her by a still unknown young person.
 PeneloHume Race - 16
Penelo is a 16 year old hume who lives near her friend, Vaan, in Rabanastre of Dalmasca. She lost her family in a previous war but now works happily at the bazaar. Her philosophy i s "As long as you never give up, things will get better down the road." Penelo loves to sing and dance. She learned martial arts from her older brother, who used to be a knight. Her dancing style is similar to martial arts, even if she has no actual fighting experience.
 FranViera Race
Fran is of the Viera race, she has been trained in sword play and hand-to hand combat. She entrusts her faith in combat during her journeys with Vaan and Ashe, Fran is very useful when it comes to grappling and fencing. Her home is on a remote land where few people live. She travels around in a sky ship with her partner Balflear.
 BaschHume Race - 36
The 36 year-old Basch, was a former knight and general of Dalmasca, but he killed the king when he found out King Dalmasca sold his people to Arcadia. Basch also killed Vaan's older brother, Reks, when he had found out the truth. Basch is known as a villian, he travels with Vaan, but his intentions are still clouded in mystery.
 BalflearHume Race - 22
He lives his life as a thief and only fights against those who are sinster. Balflear is widely known throughout the nations as a spectacular mechanic, but does not belong to any nation. He flies across the skies with his partner Fran, who is of the Viera race, in their sky ship.
