Final Fantasy XI is going to be the very first FF online RPG. The game will cost about $60-$70, plus a monthly fee of $10 to play it on Square's PlayOnline network.

The game takes place in the world of Vana Dir (Vana Diel, on the Japanese site), where swords, sorcery, and technology coexist. More than 20 years ago, humans and monsters fought a battle. The land has remained peaceful until recently, as an evil presence is starting to cloud the land of Vana Dir once again.

The world of Vana Dir contains three countries; The Republic of Bastok, The Kingdom of San'doria, and The Federation of Windurst. For now, the names of only four areas have been released, Port Sandoria, the deserts of Gustaberg, the forests of Ranfaure, and the grasslands of Sarutabaruta.

Players can choose from five different tribes; the Humes (Humans), the Elvaan, the Tarutaru, the Galka, and the Mithra.
