Chapter Nine

"Thanks for tonight, Nick," Andi said sincerely before kissing him softly.

"Anytime...listen, I know that you still have lingering feelings for A.J." Andi shifted uncomfortably in the tan leather seat. "but...I'm willing to back off until you're ready."

She smiled at his thoughtfulness and leaned in again to kiss him, just for reassurance.

"I don't need time, Nick. I know that A.J. was all wrong for me and when I'm with you, everything feels right."

She kissed him a final time before opening the door of the Durango and heading to her door. She turned and waved before letting herself in the house.

'What the fuck is my problem?' AJ thought to himself.

"Miranda?" he called to her on his way out.

"You're a quick learner, for a minute there I halfway expected you to call me Andi again."

AJ swallowed, "I'm sorry, what happened tonight probably shouldn't have... you being Andi's friend and all.."

Miranda smiled, "AJ, this is my job. What happened wasn't special- it was routine. Think of it as a favor, ok?"

"Are you sure?"

"Yup, but don't think you can get away with a freebie next time."

"Of course not."

"And this is still our secret, right?"

AJ winked and walked out the door. 'I can't believe I just slept with her friend, that's a new low'. AJ walked over to his car and sighed as he started it. 'Maybe her and Nick are just fucking,' he consoled himself. He drove around for awhile and ended up finding himself in front of Andi's house.

He walked up to the door and stared at it for awhile mentally debating whether or not to ring the doorbell.
