CSX Maintenance of Way I
Tallahassee Sub
Greenville siding, Tallahassee Subdivision, April 2000.
CSX 9506 U23B is encharged of a maintenance of way train. The equipment
is coming from the P&A sub where it has been on duty for the past 2
months.
Early 1999, on a Sunday afternoon, a maintenance of way train came
down the Bainbridge sub onto the Tallahassee Sub. Loaded on the flat cars
were numerous "little machines". They were immediately unloaded so that
work could start Monday morning. For the next 6 weeks, the west end of
the Tallahassee sub was in the state of complete chaos. No trains came
through on time, and the ones that could be rescheduled went through at
night.
On the second day of work, I caught up with them going through town,
the SAL depot as a backdrop.
In early 2000, the convoy hit the P&A sub.
Note: anybody willing to contribute information about maintenance
of way equipment, what they do and how they work would be very welcomed.
