March 26...
Performance Day!!! In the morning we all got to go on tours... Marah, Ana, and I were on the elevator that morning when we...met a really cute guy from another school. I had seen him before. ^_^ Anyway we talked to him for a few minutes, and then we all had to go with our choirs. Our tour guide was really...personality-less (not a word. I know). We went to the Statue of Liberty first. A lot of the people in my choir were buying fake oakleys and stuff (it was funny). The boat ride over to the Statue was FREEZING. We sat on the top deck. While Ana was bouncing around taking pictures and stuff, Marah and I were turning into ice blocks (ahhh the thin blood of the Floridians). Well we got to the Statue and all of that stuff. Unfortunately we couldn't go inside because we did't have enough time. We took a bunch of pictures though. And my friends Lindsay and Cyndie decided to roll down the hill near the Statue. Oh and we saw the guy that we had been talking to before. After visiting the Statue we went to Ellis Island. We didn't have much time to hang around. I looked on the huge wall that has the names of all of the people who came through Ellis Island. I think I saw some names from my family. After that we all went back to the hotel. We had like three hours to do what we wanted. Ana went off with some other people to the World Trade Center. Marah and I got lunch and went back to the room to hang out. We watched TV. I caught the new Xena episode! I was really happy about that. And Marah thought that the episode was cool. YAY maybe I will get someone else to like Xena. Then at about 2:00 had afternoon rehearsal (oh yay). We all sat in the back (not knowing that this would affect us later). After rehearsal we had about a half an hour to get ready. We had to wear our chorus uniforms. We all boarded a charter bus (not sweltering hot this time) and went to Carnegie Hall. We entered through backstage and went on for sound check. Here was the downfall: all of us that sat in the back in rehearsal...were suddenly in the back row for the performance. This was not working since we're all not exactly 6 feet tall. So the back row got the attention of the conductor. So our extremely smart conductor moved us behind the men. Go figure. Now all of the soprano 2's from our chorus (including me) were mixed in with all the bass'. After sound check it was...PERFORMANCE TIME!!! It was really incredible...the sound was amazing. I could see the audience so I knew that I could be seen (even with all of the tall guys). After our performance we had to listen to an orchestra perform. They were good, but by then I was tired and hungry. I said a quick "hi" to my family, and then we had to go to the busses. We got outside and it was sooooo cold. Our chorus dresses are really thin. We got back to the hotel, and Ana and I talked to the guy again (we finally found out that his name was Jessie). He was extremely nice. One of the elevators got stuck again (but none of our people were in it). We had a quick meeting (and we all got pizza). After that Marah, Ana, and I watched the end of the Oscars and ate pizza. And that was the end of our performance day...
