I got started in model railroading when a nephew asked me to repaint a Lionel Burlington F-7 into Santa Fe colors. I enjoyed this so much I bought a cheap Roundhouse switcher to play around with, and ... I was off!
This is that switcher, it is now a lamp.

In this HO scene, there is only 8-9 inches between the  Roundhouse electric engine and the cement block wall of the basement

I enjoyed modeling in HO, but the rustic backwoodsy flavor of narrow gauge appealed to me and I switched over to On3. I never got to a layout, my employer bellied up and hard times forced me to relocate in Indiana and I found a buyer, who in my opinion, got a very good deal on this stuff.
My pride and joy - all brass Iron Horse Models 13 ton Shay. I painted and weathered this beautiful little engine. The ore hopper was a kit and the caboose was scratch built.

The steam engine kit and RR trucks were bought - the rest of this On3 MOW car was scratch built
