As the Florida Pro Series enters its 12th year, we are facing some of the biggest changes in years. With the coming of the ABC (Approved Body Configuration) product that has put common measurements from at least two manufacturers (APR and Five Star), at this time the playing field has never been more level.
2004 will be used as a transitional year with our bodies already being very close with a nose at 47" from the front spindle and spoiler at 48" from the rearend centerline. In 2005 these numbers will be 46" on the nose and 47" on the spoiler. We will be using a measuring tool called the "Referee" on all cars from now on. In 2005 any body not having ABC labels will carry an additional 50 lbs., in 2006 100 lbs., etc.
This year is the time needed to make the transition. Specify ABC when you buy parts. Our weights have been adjusted so all three series in this state will be identical, same bodies, same motors, same interpretation.
Have a great season! Bert.
