FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - Hardeeville Motor Speedway- 10-12-02
Hardeeville, S.C. - College student Kevin Finney, from Merritt Island, Fla., scored the biggest win of his brief racing career Saturday night as he led the final 35 laps to win the 100 lap Florida Pro Series headliner at Hardyville Motor Speedway.
Jonny Kay paced the first 33 laps around the D-shaped speedway until a handling problem, later to be found a broken shock absorber, allowed Doyle Boatwright to take command.
Meanwhile Finney was driving a steady, patient race as he moved into the top five and picked off Dick Anderson and brother Brian Finney.
Finally able to get to Boatwright, Kevin Finney made the pass on lap 65 and never looked back. Boatwright could never get closer than three car lengths and they crossed the stripe in that order.
Brian Finney claimed third money over Dick Anderson and David Hodges, Jr. The balance of the top ten finishers included Jeff Gordon, Eddie Gainey, fast qualifier Jay Middleton, Skeeter Godbee, Chris Dunn and Jonny Kay.
FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - Columbia Motorsports Park- 8-31-02
Lake City, Fla. - Journeyman driver Doyle Boatwright scored one of the biggest wins in his career Saturday night as he claimed the Florida Pro Series Pepsi 125 at Columbia Motorsport Park.
Jonny Kay began the run from the pole but on the second lap he and fast qualifier Dick Anderson tangled. Anderson went to the pits and both rejoined the field at the back as Mac Johnson took the lead. Jeff Scofield and Jay Middleton chased the fleet Johnson around the half-mile oval lap after lap as Kay steadily worked his way back toward the front of the 15 car field. A yellow flew on lap 58 for George Richardson as he lost a driveshaft and coated the track with oil.
On the restart the order was Johnson, Scofield and Kay and five laps later Kay drove to second and set his sights on the leader. On lap 94, Scofield spun on the back straight as Kay headed for the pits with engine ills in the Systma 77.
The green flew again on lap 98 and it was still Johnson in command over Boatwright, Mike Faulk and Brian Finney. Johnson's car began to show smoke on lap 109 and five laps later the yellow waved as he ignored the black flag but his night was done with a fried rear gear.
Boatwright found himself in command with young Faulk hot on his tail and they ran that way to the checkers with Brian Finney, Georgia's Jeff Gordon and Kevin Dicks rounding out the top five.

FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - Ocala Speedway- 6-29-02
OCALA, Fla. - Two-time Florida Pro Series champion Dick Anderson put his years of experience to work to win Saturday night's FPS 100 lap late model headliner at Ocala Speedway.
Pole sitter Jonny Kay set an early pace around the D shaped oval as Anderson worked his way toward the front. Anderson and Jason Boyd tangled on the front straight on lap 25 with Anderson's mount suffering some damage to the right front fender. Anderson caught Kay for the lead on lap 39, but only stayed out front for a trio of laps before Kay went back ahead.
Anderson showed a great deal of patience in shadowing Kay until finally going back to the point on lap 56. Kay tucked in behind and the lead duo and they ran nose to tail until lap 85 when Anderson began to pull away. Scott Grossenbacher, who considers Ocala his home track, had chased Kay for many laps and on lap 94 he was able to make good on a pass for the runner-up position and they ran to the checkers in the same order.
The win was Anderson's third of the season and increased his point lead over Kay. Behind Anderson, Grossenbacher and Kay in the final rundown were Brian Finney and Richard Pratt.

FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - Columbia Motorsports Park- 6-1-02
LAKE CITY, Fla. - After being close on several occasions, veteran Mac Johnson put all the pieces together Saturday night and handily won the Sunbelt Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep 125 Florida Pro Series late model event at Columbia Motorsports Park.
Two time FPS champion Dick Anderson took the lead at the outset from his front row starting spot but his night lasted only 15 laps before suspension problems sent him to the pits for the duration. With Anderson gone Jonny Kay took command and appeared very strong but Johnson, who was the quick qualifier and started 10th was steadily picking his way through the 16 car field enroute to the front. By lap 40 Johnson caught Kay and they battled briefly with Johnson the new leader on lap 42 but Kay went back in front two laps later. Johnson went ahead for good on lap 48 but Kay stayed in his shadow until a flat tire sent him to pits and out of contention on lap 82. Shane Sawyer took up the chase of Johnson but at the checkers had to settle for runner-up honors. Brian Finney, Jimmy Britts and Rich Pratt rounded out the top five finishers.

FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - Hialeah Speedway- 5-11-02
HIALEAH, Fla. - Jonny Kay survived a late race tangle and wall banger to edge Dick Anderson in winning Saturday night's Bill Flingos Memorial 100 Florida Pro Series late model headliner at Hialeah Speedway.
Kay, wheeling the Systma/Hurricane Racing Chevrolet, got a good jump at the drop of the original green flag with Anderson hot on his back bumper. Several yellow flags kept the leaders honest but the first real incident occured on lap 49 when Steve Weaver, Jr and Eddie Hamby tangled on the front straight. Weaver was finished for the night while Hamby made repairs and returned.
As the laps clicked off Anderson turned up the pressure on Kay with third running Glenn Whitney eyeing the leaders for any problems he might capitalize on. Then it happened. Anderson got under Kay on lap 99 and when Kay tried to get back in line there was contact with Whitney in turn one. Kay spun and backed into the wall. The order went back to the last green lap and Kay went back to the lead with Anderson second. Ordered to the rear, Whitney protested and was black flagged and sent to the pits, his evening finished after a great run.
The final two laps went without incident with Kay the winner over Anderson, Joe Winchell, and youngsters Jay Middleton and David Hodges, Jr.
1. Jonny Kay 100 laps, 2. Dick Anderson 100, 3. Joe Winchell 100, 4. Jay Middleton 100, 5. David Hodges, Jr. 100, 6. Steve Godlewski 100, 7. Stuart Robertson 100, 8. Kevin McMickle 98, 9. FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - Charlotte County Speedway- 4-6-02
PUNTA GORDA, Florida - Charlotte Co. Speedway set its pace to debut the Florida Pro Late Models and with a slim field of cars it was the quality of the drivers that set the start of the 50 Lap headliner.
Florida Veteran Dick Anderson continued his winning ways as he dominated the Budweiser Florida Pro Main Event. Anderson started his Simmons prepared machine on the second row and blasted past front row starter Randy Fox enroute to Victory Lane.
Billy Bigley gave chase to the veteran only to come up short for his efforts. Fox would hold on to the third spot and rounding out the top five was Jay Middleton and David Hodges.
FLORIDA PRO SERIES RESULTS - Columbia Motorsports Park- 3-9-02
LAKE CITY, Fla. - Defending Florida Pro Series champion Dick Anderson started dead last in a borrowed car and ran to the victory in the season opener for the late model tour Saturday night at Columbia Motorsports Park.
Using a second car from the Simmons Motorsports team, Anderson elected to change tires after qualifying and began the 125 lap run on the tail of the 16 car field on the banked half-mile oval. Pole sitter Michael Faulk led the first 19 laps in the Pierce Ford before engine woes sent him to the sideline and Justin Drawdy, the other front row starter, picked up the top spot. Drawdy's lead was short lived as his mount began to overheat, finally spinning and spewing water all over the fourth turn on lap 23. Fast qualifier Jonny Kay was unable to avoid the liquid and slammed the fourth turn wall to end his night.
Mac Johnson was the new leader and he and challenger Jonathan Brown engaged in a fierce battle before they tangled on lap 43 with Brown's mount sliding off the outside of turn 3. Both were sent to the rear of the field on the res tart with Anderson assuming the top spot for the first time on lap 44.
Young Jay Middleton took up the challenge of Anderson in the classic veteran vs. the up and comer. Brown had worked his way back to the top five and began to challenge Middleton before the two made contact with Middleton a spin victim. David Browning and Brian Finney had no where to go and both contact with Middleton, ending the night for all three. On the restart Johnson put his No. 6 in Anderson's shadow and they ran to the checkers in that order.
Brown, Eddie Gainey and Kevin Dicks rounded out the top five finishers.
The Florida Pro tour now moves to Charlotte County Speedway in Punta Gorda on April 6.
