Heero, Duo, Trowa, Quatre, and Wufei were sulking in the living room of their safehouse. No missions had come in lately and the boys were bored to tears. Wufei politely excused himself to his room to rest while the others settled down to watch a movie.
Quatre and Trowa were snuggling on one corner of the couch with Heero on the other end and Duo in a chair squeezing a pillow.
Heero admitted to himself that he was jealous of Quatre and Trowa's luck to have each other during the war. He didn't resent them having it; he just wanted to have something like it with a certain braided pilot, who was cuddling the pillow. Heero decided he really hated that pillow.
But of course, Heero wasn't supposed to have those or any emotions so he carefully hid them away, just as he did during his training, especially since he was certain that Duo didn't love "The Perfect Soldier" the same way Heero loved him.
Sighing quietly, Heero slipped from the room, being certain he didn't draw any attention. He needed to be alone. Lost in thought, he never saw the violet eyes note his disappearance.

Duo settled down on his chair, holding the pillow. He tried to watch the movie, but his eyes kept drifting back to a silent cobalt-eyed soldier. Squeezing the pillow, Duo wished that it was Heero instead, but Heero, "The Perfect Soldier" wasn't supposed to have emotions so why would he waste the ones he had on another boy when he had Relena? Even though Duo knew almost every emotion that Heero possessed, even why he was hiding them, and Duo was sure Relena couldn't do that.
After several moments of watching emotions flicker across Heero's face, Duo recognized the one that stayed as 'hopelessness,' even if it was hidden by the stone mask. Duo forced himself to turn back and watch the movie instead of running over to comfort Heero.
A soft sigh drew Duo's attention back to Heero, who was in the process of sneaking out. Duo summoned all his talents as a thief and followed after Heero silently down to the hanger.

Heero went down to the hanger where the gundams were stashed. He sat down next to Wing Zero's foot, hugging his knees to his chest. He had that weird feeling deep in his chest that he refused to acknowledge(1), so he sat back and silently sat with his face buried in his knees.
Suddenly, two arms carefully wrapped around his waist. Heero jumped, ready to attack whoever held him. He stopped when he saw it was Duo. Heero glanced up into the solemn violet eyes, unsure, as Duo pulled him into a close embrace. Heero melted into the hug, relaxing completely.
When he felt more like himself, Heero tensed slightly and Duo released him.
"What was that for?" He asked quietly.
"Some things are just needed, Heero. And I think that you needed that." Duo explained as Heero nodded acceptance. Duo made a move to stand but Heero stopped him.
"..." Cobalt eyes pleaded silently with violet.
"Okay." Duo agreed. He sat back down and pulled the other into another looser embrace. Heero totally relaxed against Duo as they sat in the darkened hanger.
After a while, Heero slowly sat up, supporting most his weight on one hand, while the other rested on Duo's black-clad chest. Slowly, almost afraid, he leaned forward and captured the braided boy's lips in a chaste kiss.
Duo froze, shocked, and Heero quickly pulled back, the pain in his chest returning. Then, without warning, Duo pulled Heero into a passionate kiss. "Thanks," Duo breathed when they broke. "I definitely needed that."
Heero smiled slightly, "Some things are just needed." Duo grinned widely and kissed Heero again.
"You're right. What do you say we go back up and watch the end of the movie?"
"..."
"Together." Duo assured him, leaning forward to steal another kiss. Heero nodded and the two slipped silently back into the living room, where they curled up together and eventually fell asleep.
"About time." Quatre commented to his lover, motioning to the sleeping pair.
"Trowa nodded as he helped the blonde to his feet before pulling him close. "Let's leave them be."
Quatre nodded and they headed up for bed. Quatre paused at the base of the stairs to switch off the lights.
"Good night my friends. Sleep well."

(1)-That is the feeling that you get deep in your chest when you feel like you have to cry but you can't. Sorry I can't be more clear about that.
