SEARCHING FOR SOMEONE
CHAPTER 2
"Hows my hair look?" I asked Aj, as I sat next to him on the plane.
"Man D why you buggin'.. it looks fine"
"Well, I just wanted to look good for, you know, my surprise." I said. "Besides you wont tell me anything else about it."
"Nope, and Im not going to" He said turning his disc-man back on.
"Well fine then" I grumbled.
He does that to me all the time. he'll tell me something and then becomes a clam when I ask for more details. Everytime. If it wasnt for Amanda, I think Aj would be lost. Back when we were touring in Europe they broke up for a few months. Yeah he went out with Christy for that small period of time, but he wasnt the same. When he got home and mad amends with Amanda, he was a whole new person. Now when he makes speechs in public he'll say I love you baby.. he actually acknowledges her as part of him now.
I wish I could do the same thing. I have no one. yeah I date occasionally. I dont have a steady girlfriend, yet. Sure there are rumors about me and my friend Claudia, but they are all false. We are just good friends. I take her to award shows with me, and yes we do go out to dinner once in a while, but nothing serious. I do the same with my sister Polly Anna to. So why cant they just get over the fact that I am single? I am not gay.. just sinlge.
"So D, what are you thinking about?" Aj asked me.
"Nothing why?" I snapped at him.
"Whoa, whoa! Dude, I was just asking .. besides the flight attendents said to put on your seat belts we are going to land." He told me.
"Sorry.. I didnt hear her. " I apologized "I guess I just nervous, thats all."
"Well, you shouldnt be." He said. "Its not like you've never met anyone new before."
"Yeah well, when your friend refuses to tell you about whos gonna be there, then you can talk." I said as I put on my seat belt.
"Ahh but see thats where you are wrong my friend.. I could have not said anything at all." Aj replied.
"True. Well, I guess Im sorry man." Thats when the flight attendent came over the entercom again announcing that we were about to land. God was I excited. I just hope that everything turns out okay. And most imortanat that I look okay.
The plane landed and we grabbed our stuff from the overheads and headed off the plane. Now we couldnt just go into the airport unescorted, we needed to wait for the security guards. When they arrived they took us down to where the luggage came in. We grabbed our suit cases, all of mine were accounted for..surprisingly.
"So where is she?" I asked Aj, noticing that Amanda wasnt there yet.
"I dont know dog, she said she was gonna met us here." He said as he looked around.
"Could be traffic. Or..."
"There she is!" He spotted her at the other end of the room. "Panda! Panda!" He yelled.
"Hey stop causing a scene. Theres girls looking at us everywhere." I hushed him.
"Well she was starting to walk the other way man. Hurry up, here she comes." Aj replied as he grabbed his stuff and started walking twords her.
A minute later Amanda and Aj were in each others arms hugging and kissing. Its was kinda like a movie.. without the credits. When they were done, Amanda sad hi to me and the rest of the guys, giving all of us hugs. personally, Brian doesnt like her, but he puts up with her for Aj. Thats when I saw Janine. I was shocked. I hadnt seen the girl since 95. Thats when we started going on tour alot. She was my best friend.
"Surprise!" Amanda said along with Aj.
"Oh.. My.. God. I cant believe it is you!" i said hugging her.
"Well, it is me." Janine said. "How have you been?"
"Good, good, and you? What are you doing here?" I replied.
"Amanda contacted me. Told me you were coming to New Orleans for a few days.."She started.." And I missed you so.."
"Amanda? I didnt know you guys talked." I said. "How do you know Amanda?
"We met at some auditons a few years back, and have stayed in contat since. " Janine said "Kinda like you and Aj did. Wierd huh?"
"Yeah it is. I missed you so much!" I said again.
"Me too Howie, Ive missed you so much" Aj said jokingly "We better get going now, you can talk on the way to the hotel."
"He's right, lets go." Amanda told us.
We got all our stuff in the car and took off. I came to find out that during our first tour, Janine and Amanda had met during some auditions and became friends. Then right before we got back from the tour Janines dad got transfer with his job to New Orleans, where they have been since. Since Amanda knew we would be coming here, and since she was going to met Aj, she thought it would have been a nice surprise for me to see Janaine again, and god was she right. I never relized that I hadnt talked to her in almost five years, there was so much to catch up on in three days.
