Chapter 5

No One Else Comes Close

The cruise was a wonderful idea. Me, Brian, Charity, and Howie, are now closer than ever. I think we have all found our soulmates on this adventure.

After arriving home, Charity and I discover we went shopping one too many times. We brought back stuff for all our family and friends. We bought souveniers of our journey of love at every island we docked at.

Charity and I share everything, even stories of the most magical times of our lives. The cruise really did us good, because we finally got to tell Howie and Brian that we do love them. I honestly don't think we would have told them at any other time, except on that ship.

Brian and Howie invite Charity and I to dinner, saying they have surprises for us both. Well, they didn't tell us that, we heard it from Kevin. All it did to us was make us nervous.

During dinner, Howie and Charity walk out on the veranda to have some quiet time to themselves, leaving Brian and I there alone.

Brian takes my hand, "Dawn, this past week has been the best time of my life, and I want to thank you for making it so much more special. I don't think I could live without you, but I don't want to try. You are my life, my love, my heart. I want you to know that I love you more than anything in this world. I would do anything for you, all you have to do is ask. You showed me what real true love is, and for that I want you to be my wife."

All I could do was look at him, with tears in my eyes, and running down my cheeks. Finally, I managed to whisper, "I love you, too, more than anything. I have since I first laid eyes on you. And I would be priviledged to be your wife."

He takes a ring from his pocket, and slips it on my hand, as I dive into his arms, crying and kissing him.

Out on the veranda, Howie and Charity are looking at the moon, bright and beautiful, and remembering their time on the cruise. Howie wraps his arms around her waist from behind, and whispers in her ear: "No one else comes close to you. No one makes me feel the way you do. You're so special to me, and you'll always be eternally. Every time I hold you near, you always say the words I love to hear. With just a touch you can do so much. And when I wake up to the touch of your head on my shoulder, you're my dream come true, you know I'll always treasure every kiss and everyday, I love you in every way and I always will. Charity, I love you with all my heart and soul. I have never known anyone that makes me excited, happy, sad, joyful, and let's me be myself. You have made me a stronger man, and made me want to be a better man, just to make you happy." He turns her around and faces her, "Baby, you complete me. If it weren't for you, I would never know what love is. Will you make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife? Will you marry me?" He says, as he sinks to one knee and retrieves a ring from his pocket.

Charity doesn't hesitate, with tears flowing down her cheeks, she kneels down in front of Howie, holding his hands, "Yes, I will." He slips the ring on her finger, kisses her, and they rise together, declaring their love once again under the beautiful Florida moon.
