Chapter 1

The Beginning

My sister, Charity, had went to Florida to visit her best friend, Rebecca. She lived in Boca Raton with her husband, Michael, and their son, Justin. While visiting there, Rebecca introduced her to a friend of her's named Howie, who sang in a group. Charity hit it off instantly with him. After dating for a few months, Charity invited me down to stay with her, because she was lonely when Howie was working. She also mentioned that there was someone she wanted me to meet, so I went.

I met Howie, he was adorable, and young, but that didn't matter because he really cared about Charity and he treated her good. They introduced me to a few of Howie's friends who were also in his group, Brian, AJ, Kevin, and Nick. They were all young and good-looking.

Charity had decided to relocate to Florida and asked me if I wanted to come down and help her get moved in. I was excited because I had never lived outside of West Virginia, and Florida was beautiful in the summertime.

Brian had invited me to watch him and the rest of the boys play basketball, and after the game, we were talking. He asked me if I wanted to go out tonight, and I accepted.

"Charity!" I yelled, as I came through the door.

"What's wrong?" Charity asked as she came out of the bedroom.

"You are not going to believe this!! Brian asked me out! Can you believe it?!" At this point I am jumping up and down.

"Really? Cool, what did you tell him?"

"I said yes!" I say as I am walking into the bathroom. I stop and look at her, "What am I going to wear?"

"Come on," she says taking my hand and leading me in her bedroom. "Where's he taking you?"

"I don't know, he never said."

"Let me call Howie, he'll find out for me," she said as she picks up the phone.

"Hey, where's Brian taking Dawn?" This is all I hear, a one-sided phone conversation. "Yeah, he finally asked her out. Oh, really, okay, bye sweety." She hangs up the phone.

"He's taking you to The Marina Club and probably to the beach. So, let's go see what we have to work with." We go into her bedroom and start looking through the closet.

I decided on a cream colored sundress with flowers that came just above my knees and sandals, since it was warm there at night. I also brought along a sweater, in case it got cool at the beach. I wore my hair up, Charity took care of that, along with my make-up and perfume.

When Brian arrived, he was wearing a slate blue polo shirt and gray khackis, he looked good.

When we arrived at the Marina Club, he picked out a nice private table on the water. It was a very romantic place.

After dinner, we sat and talked for a long time.

"How do you like Florida?" He asked.

"It's okay, but it's not home, you know? I love staying with Charity, we are all the time having a blast, and Howie is hilarious!" I smile.

"I know what you mean. I had a little trouble when I first moved from Lexington. You know, with this accent, I really fit in here!" He laughs.

"Hey now, you never make fun of us country folk!" I laugh.

"Ever think you might move here?" He asks, as he takes a drink of his water.

"I don't know, it is really beautiful here, I may move here sometime."

As we leave the club, he escorts me to out the door and down to the beach. The moon is bright and beautiful tonight.

We sat on the beach watching the tide roll in and out for almost an hour, talking about where we grew up. After we strolled up and back down the beach, we walked back to the club to get Brian's car.

He walked me to the door of the apartment, asking me if I would like to go out again tomorrow night. After kissing me goodnight, I open the door to see Charity and Howie sitting on the couch, obviously wanting details.

"Waiting up?" I question, as I close the door.

"Not really, no.....how'd it go?" Howie asked, looking at Charity.

"Not being nosey, or anything," Charity says, "but, did he ask you out again? Did you hit it off?"

"Well," I say as I take off my sweater and walk into the kitchen, "he did ask me out again for tomorrow night, and yes, I accepted." I get a bottle of water out of the fridge. "You know what? He is SO sweet!" I walk over to the couch and sit down beside Howie.

"I know I haven't known him long, but I am crazy about him." I say taking a drink.

Charity looks at Howie, smiles, and taps his leg, "I told she would be."

"Well, I'll find out what Bri thinks of her tomorrow. It's late, I'm outta here, but, I'll see you tomorrow," he says then kisses Charity. "I'll see you tomorrow, Mrs. Littrell," he pats me on the head.

"Don't jinx me," I say, hitting him on the leg as he walks in front of me.

After Howie left, me and Charity changed into t-shirts and pajama pants, and talked about my evening with Brian.

"You know, I knew you'd like him. I told Howie that is the only reason I invited you down here. Listen, you have to know and I don't think Brian is going to tell you right now. He was in a real hurtful relationship not too long ago with a girl who treated him bad. All he wants is someone who will love him and care for him for him, not for his fame. He's been through a lot." Charity says, drinking her coke.

"Charity," I begin, "I really do care for him. He is so down to earth, and when I look at him, all I can do is just smile. I am so happy when I hear his voice. He is just like us, he's country, and he is perfect." I smile.

We say our good nights, and go our seperate ways to our bedrooms.
