Confessions

"Ahem." Nick cleared his throat nervously. "There’s no way to say this without making a complete fool of myself, so I’ll just say it. Hallie…um…I like you a lot, I really do. You’re a really good friend of mine…but recently, I’ve been thinking quite a bit…and I think I like you a lot more."
"Nick, look…" But Nick interrupted me.
"I’m not asking you to date me or anything, I know you don’t ‘like me’ like that…so if you don’t feel comfortable around me anymore then I understand…"
"Nick, listen to me…"
"I understand exactly how you must be feeling and…"
"Nick! Shut up!" I cried. Nick finally shut up.
"What?"
"I just want you to know that…" But he interrupted me again.
"I know, I know, we can’t really hang out together anymore, but hopefully that won’t affect Jerry and Aaron too much, and…"
"NICK! I’M IN LOVE WITH YOU!" I cried at the top of my voice, finally making him shut up for good.
"You’re what?!" he asked me incredulously. I took a deep breath as I blushed really badly and looked down to the floor.
"I’m in love with you. I’m sorry." I got up off the couch then and walked toward the door, preparing to leave.
Jerry and Aaron were, at this point, eavesdropping from their room, and were very shocked to hear me tell Nick I was in love with him.
I opened the door, but Nick got up after me and ran over to the door, shutting it. I turned around and looked into his eyes.
"Hallie, you’re obviously very stupid if you didn’t know that I’m in love with you too." He smiled at me, and I smiled back. Nick gently tilted my chin up with his hand, looking deep into my eyes. We both closed our eyes as Nick’s lips neared mine, and eventually fell upon them. I put my arms around his neck and he put his right arm around my waist. I stepped away from the door and Nick put his other arm around my waist. The kiss was wonderful…really gentle and loving. When we pulled away, both slightly breathless, I grinned at Nick.
"I love you so much, Nick." He grinned back at me and kissed me again.

It was then that Aaron and Jerry had had enough of the silence, and wanted to know what we were doing. So they opened their bedroom door slightly and peered around it.
"Oh wow!" Aaron whispered to Jerry happily as he saw me and Nick kissing.
"We were right!" Jerry squealed. They gave each other a high-five before leaving Nick and I alone, and eventually got into their beds.

"I didn’t think in a million years that you would be in love with me!" Nick exclaimed once we’d pulled away from our second kiss. I was still in his arms, and I was grinning my face off, as was Nick.
"Well, you learn something new everyday."
"You sure do. I love you, Hallie." And before I could reply, Nick was kissing me again.

I woke up the next morning to the sound of someone in the shower. I smiled to myself, remembering the events of the night before.

Nick and I had kissed and cuddled on the couch for quite a long time the night before, until I’d finally managed to drag myself away from him. I went to sleep in my makeshift bed, Nick remaining on the couch.

I got up, yawning loudly, and padded over to the bedroom. I peered through the door which was ajar, and saw that Aaron and Jerry were both fast asleep. Then I went back over to my bed on the floor, and while Nick was in the shower, quickly got dressed.

Nick appeared from the shower a couple of minutes later. He was dripping wet, with a towel wrapped around his waist and another towel around his neck. He saw that I was awake and grinned at me.
"Morning." I greeted him with a smile as I stood up from the floor.
"Hey." He walked over to me and put his arms around my waist.
"Nick! You’re all wet!" I laughed as he held me close (on purpose, to make me all wet too) and kissed me gently on the cheek.
"Do you care?" he asked me, smiling. I looked into his beautiful blue eyes, and decided that being all wet wasn’t a problem.
"No, I don’t care." I grinned at him and held him as close as I could, kissing him lovingly on the lips.
"I’d better get dressed." Nick told me with a loving smile.
"Okay, well, I need to use the bathroom anyway. You give me a shout when you’re dressed, okay?" Nick nodded. He gave me a smooth kiss before he let me go over to the bathroom, while he got dressed.

Jerry and Aaron got up not long after that, and walked into the lounge while I was still in the bathroom.
"Hey bro’." Aaron greeted his big brother, grinning at him.
"Morning Aaron. You slept well, Jerry?"
"Yeah, thanks." Aaron and Jerry both grinned up at Nick. Nick knew what was coming.
"So, Nick, how’s Hallie?" Aaron asked nonchalantly.
"Hallie is fine. In fact, you can ask her yourself." I appeared from the bathroom then, and sat on one of the armchairs. Jerry perched on the arm, and Aaron sat next to Nick on the couch.
"Have fun last night, Hal?" Jerry asked me with a huge grin on her face. I rolled my eyes and grinned back.
"Yeah, I did." Nick smiled shyly at me.
"C’mon guys, we know you two got together!" Aaron exclaimed.
"And how is that?" Nick asked his little brother.
"We saw you two…you know…" Aaron winked at Nick and me, and we both started laughing.
"It’s about time too!" Jerry added with a grin. I got up then and sat down on the couch next to Nick, on the other side from Aaron. I smiled at Nick as he turned toward me. He smiled back and moved his head in closer. We kissed gently, and when we’d pulled away, Aaron and Jerry were grinning at us.
"This is so cool!" Aaron exclaimed.

Soon after that, Jerry and Aaron got changed and we all had room service breakfast. At around 10am, we all headed down to the venue, as there were sound checks and rehearsals for the final show in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Nick and I weren’t sure about how to act around each other…we weren’t sure if we should tell anyone. But it was Jerry and Aaron who convinced us that as we were now a couple, we should act like a couple.
"C’mon you guys," Jerry whined as we left the hotel room. "You two should at least hold hands or something."
"Yeah," Aaron chimed in. "You’re such a great couple, you’ve gotta let everyone know!" Nick raised his eyebrows at me.
"You wanna let everyone know?"
"Yeah, I do." I grinned at him. I moved closer next to Nick, putting my arms around his neck. I smiled at him and said, "I love you, Nick." Nick grinned back at me and put his arms around my waist.
"I love you too." He gave me a gentle kiss on the lips and smiled at me again. He took my hand in his, and holding hands, we left the building.

"Hey you guys! Have a good Sunday?" Mack asked us cheerfully as we all entered the venue’s backstage area. He hadn’t noticed that Nick and I were holding hands.
"Yeah, we had an excellent time!" Jerry exclaimed, running over to Mack and giving him a big hug.
"Nick and Hallie had an even better time." Aaron cheekily added.
"Oh yeah?" Mack asked, obviously a bit confused. "Why was that?" Nick and I both blushed.
"Hallie’s got a boyfriend!" Jerry squealed happily.
"And who would that be?" Mack asked me, with a knowing smile.
"Nick." I replied, blushing even more. Mack grinned at us.
"I should’ve realised - you two are holding hands."
"Is it okay with you, Mack?" Nick asked my big brother slightly anxiously.
"Sure it is!" Mack replied with a grin. "You’re one of the good guys, Nick. I hope you two are very happy together."
"They will be, don’t worry!" Aaron told Mack, grinning.

Mack was the only one apart from Jerry and Aaron who knew about me and Nick dating. As Nick’s day had been so chaotic with rehearsals and everything, we hadn’t had a chance to act ‘coupley’ around everyone else. But that evening, everyone found out.
"Wish us luck!" Brian said to Jerry and I as the Backstreet Boys prepared to go onstage.
"You’ll be the bomb!" Jerry exclaimed, giving AJ a high-five (well, a low-five on AJ’s part).
"I’ll see you after the show." Nick told me with a smile.
"Yeah. You’ll be great." Nick gave me a hug, but the others watching didn’t realise that it was because we were in love with each other. I pulled away from the hug and grinned at Nick. As Nick grinned back at me, the others felt the penny begin to drop. I moved my head in closer to Nick’s, and for the first time in public, we kissed.
"I did not see that coming." Brian remarked loudly, everyone else in the room agreeing with him.
"Guys, when did this happen?!" AJ asked Jerry and Aaron, who were watching us kiss, grinning.
"Last night." Aaron told him.
"Isn’t it great?" Jerry asked.
"Hell yeah." AJ looked on at us, still kissing, and smiled to himself.
"I love you Nick." I told him breathlessly as I pulled away from the kiss.
"I love you too." We exchanged loving smiles, and practically the whole of the room went,
"Aw!"
Nick and I kissed gently once more, but then Nick had to go onstage.
Nick and the guys were awesome that night, they were truly brilliant.

Jane had gotten held up back in Florida with the rest of her family, so she didn’t arrive back in North Carolina until the Backstreet Boys had finished their set.
"Hey, honey!" Jane cried, giving Aaron a big hug as they were reunited.
"I missed you Mom!"
"I missed you too!" Nick then greeted his mom. "Hi, Nick! You didn’t have any trouble with Aaron, did you?" Jane asked her eldest son as they also hugged.
"No, of course not, he was really good."
"So what’ve you been up to since I’ve been away? Any news?" Aaron grinned at Nick.
"Nick’s in lurve!" Aaron teased.
"You are?!" Jane asked, slightly taken aback. Nick blushed slightly. I then saw that Jane was back and went over to say hello.
"Hi Jane! Did you have a good trip?" I asked Jane, with a friendly smile.
"Yes, I did, thank you." Jane smiled back. Nick then slipped his arm around my waist, and Jane realised who Nick was in love with. She smiled happily at us. "Aw, it’s nice to see you two getting along so well." Nick and I both blushed, and Jane left us then to go and talk to Aaron, who had run off to chat with Jerry.
"Does your mom know?" I asked Nick.
"Aaron told her I was in love, and then she saw me put my arm around you. I’m guessing she knows." Nick smiled at me and I returned his loving smile. Nick pulled me close into a hug, and I felt so safe in his strong arms. I could’ve stayed there forever. "I want everyone to know." Nick whispered gently into my ear as he continued to hold me close. "I want everyone to know that I am in love with the most special girl in the world." I pulled away from the hug and grinned up at Nick.
"And I want everyone to know that I am in love with the most special guy in the world." We exchanged smiles once more before kissing gently on the lips.

The next day we were all on the move again, heading north to Virginia.
Nick invited Jerry and I to join him on the Backstreet Boys’ bus with Aaron as well.

Jerry and I clambered aboard the bus at around 10am, and were quite surprised to see everyone else already aboard.
"Hey Jerry! Come and see the Nintendo section of the bus!" Aaron greeted Jerry and she followed him down the other end of the bus.
"Morning beautiful." Nick smiled and made his way down the bus to greet me.
"Hi." I smiled back, blushing slightly. Nick took me in his arms and kissed me gently on the cheek.
"I’m sorry we couldn’t hang out together last night, but Mom wanted to spend the evening with Aaron and I."
"You don’t have to apologise, it’s your mom!"
"I know, but to be honest," and Nick whispered into my ear, "I would rather have spent it with you." He grinned at me and I grinned back up at him. He had such beautiful blue eyes, and an infectious smile. He was absolutely irresistible. We moved our heads closer together and both closed our eyes. We kissed gently, then more passionately, Nick’s tongue gently trying to find its way into my mouth. I giggled slightly and parted my lips (as subtly as I could), letting Nick’s tongue finally reach mine. The kiss was now very passionate, and as the other guys wandered around the back of the bus, they tried to avert their glances from Nick and I, kissing at the front of the bus.
Nick and I pulled away from the kiss, both kinda breathless.
"Wow." Nick breathed and gave me his enchanting smile.
"You’re so good at that." I told him with a cheeky grin.
"You’re better." He grinned back. Nick was holding my body very close to his, and just feeling the warmth and strength of Nick’s body was turning me on. I wasn’t sure if Nick felt the same, but it didn’t matter - I couldn’t help my feelings! "I’m real glad you decided to come on our bus." Nick told me. "I would’ve been really miserable if you hadn’t."
"Don’t be silly, you wouldn’t have been miserable."
"Wanna bet?" Nick gave me his puppy-dog-eyes look, that irresistible smile with a hint of pleading. I melted in his arms and held him close.
"I would’ve been miserable without you too."
