The words you spoke so softly keeps ringing in my ears.
Whispers of love and promises that lay broken at my feet.
I stumble through what I thought was to be my dreams.
Only to find it turned into a nightmare that I can't wake up from.
I look down to see the shattered pieces of my heart.
Like glistening pieces of ice on the ground.
Nobody can put those pieces together again.
Pieces of my heart blew into the stormy breeze never to land again.
Hope of loving is so far away and it's so hard to believe again.
Once trust is broken it's like the jigsaw puzzle with the missing piece.
It never will be whole again.
That one piece may never be found.
Dreams belong to someone else and are never mine.
Always out of reach or illusions.
I've been decieved enough without reaching for those dreams again.
Only to watch them fade into pieces of nothing.
Words of love will never fall on my ears again.
This heart has grown hard and cold.
Suspecious of any offering.
A great sadness of what I have become, of what you brought me to.
Some people find comfort in words of others and some never find it.
They wander through this world and never find their way.
Coming to crosses in the road and never knowing which to take.
Afraid of where it may lead them.
Like a bird with a broken wing, afraid to fly again.
Wondering if I try will I fly or will I just spiral down to earth.
Knowing that I can't reach for that outstretched hand to save me.
Not knowing what it holds and afraid to accept the unknown.
So I will face this world alone as I have before.
Peering out from the sadness of my soul.
Closing my heart when someone tries to come in.
Hidden inside myself.
